You missed a lovely moment when Wellens son 'scored' at the Kop end and turned and ran back to his dad with his shirt up over his head :icon_lol:

I missed the game today, my dad said that this was absolutely brilliant. I'm hoping a fan has this on video somewhere.

My mates dad has some fab photos of the lad, which she showed Wellens at the SC do after the game, he was so impressed with them she's emailing his missus them so they can be printed off to put up on the wall at home!

He was telling us he did the shirt thing cos Rooney does it, and he normally slides on his knees which he didn't do for once.

Some odd thoughts from the game:
We looked much more dangerous than them in front of goal which was a good thing because in the first half we gave them some easy chances which they squandered. The four goals we scored should not let us forget that our back four was poor - too often relying on Weale who played well.
By the time I arrived Birch had finished his run but it was nice to see him given an award especially after the unsavoury way he was treated earlier in the season.
Well done to Martyn Waghorn who at half time was very patient with youngsters wanting photos with him.
It was nice to see the Kop applaud Fulop at the start of the second half.
"Well done to the Ipswich fans who joined in the Mexican wave.
The little kiddie - Ritchie Wellens son? - who "scored a goal" at the end gave the crowd a delightful moment.

Finally "Mr Angry" was at it again While Sven and Derek Fazackerley sat serenely between them Paul Jewell and Mike Stowell had an angry clash.
Does any other club have a more cantankarous goal keeping coach? Does anyone know if he has tantrums like that away from football?

I've met Mike Stowell once, he was really a "smashing lad" character, a jovial jolly good fellow you'd meet down the pub, like he's a bit lost amongst all the professionals...

We should consult Melton Fox on this matter (I feel like a TB veteran now...).

your comedy posts are helping you fast become one of my favourite posters. high praise indeed.

Talking with BG after the game and some random bloke came up and said how lucky we were today and how Ipswich should have been 3 up inside the first minute.

What worried me most was he was deadly serious :102:

They could have scored three in the first half and wasted two glorious chances given them by our sheer incompetence.

I have nothing against him and enjoy watching his fury during the game. Angry people are always funny as long as you are at a distance and as long as they do not get near decisions.Sven and Faz are so in control of themselves I have to wonder whether they laugh at him in private.

I am sure you are right about him being a "smashing lad" away from football. In my limited experience sports people usually are - well not John McEnroe or Roy Keane perhaps.

I spoke briefly to a very inebriated Stowell at last year's end of season awards night. I usually cannot bear the company of drunks but even after a skinful Stowell was friendly, courteous and appeared utterly harmless - and wasn't the slightest bit annoying.

Today showed everything that has been good about City this season, and alas everything that is bad!
Trouble with loanee's is that they will be either youngsters that aren't near the first team or players that are third or fourth down the pecking order.
As fans we expect these players to be the top notch answer to our problems, alas it is not so.

However, I am actually excited by the prospect of next season, for the first time in many a year. Give Tunchev a new contract, sign (if we can) Mee, Naughton, Cunningham,Kamara, Vitor, Yakubu and sign a midfielder that takes no prisoners and we will walk ( no sleight on the Yak) this league next season.
Oh and I've just got home after the game, :)

I know, David. My interpretation of your post was that screaming and shouting is a bit amateurish when you're only a goalkeeping coach...* Especially when no-one else does. And I was agreeing by pointing out that Stowell hardly struck me as a Mourinho or a Ferguson, if you know what I mean. Which Sven actually did, though only in the most positive of ways.

*Even if you didn't mean that, that's probably my opinion anyway.

But I'm sure Stowell could be a good goalkeeping coach regardless of all that. Otherwise I'm sure Sven would like to get rid.

Btw, apparently Beighton said something nice about me, can someone quote him as he's on my ignore list?
**** me, the hubris is coming along........

I'd rather we ended up 8 points behind the play-offs than one or two, otherw*s* those points thrown away would have been very irritating. The 8 points is a culmination of the terrible start and the inconsistency at the end, and probably represents a fair position. The table doesn't lie.

I'd say that 8 points is what Weale has cost us since he came in for Ricardo.:icon_cry:

.......

My impression is that usually the person rollocking the players or shouting instructions is the manager or assistant manager. That was certainly true today with Paul Jewell. Again when a manager has a row with someone on the other bench it is usually the coach or assistant.

At Leicester Sven, Faz and Hamann are very quiet. It is Mike Stowell who does the reacting. I have only once seen Sven motion him to calm down and that was several matches ago. Presumably Sven approves of him shouting instructions to the players since he does nothing to stop it.

After a long career in the game I presume Mike Stowell knows what he is talking about and shouts sense during matches. However, Sven's choice of Derek Fazackerley and Dietmar Hamann suggests that he likes quiet judgement when the serious decisions are being made.
