I gave up a season ticket in 2011 to go and work in Russia teaching English. They would always ask where I come from and, because of bloody Robin Hood, I had to say I was born somewhere south of Nottingham and East of Brum. The gradual knowledge that my hometown was becoming famous meant that I could forever say "I was born in Leicester (actually Hungarton)" and people would instantly know. I follow vicariously through the internet but one of my favourite moments was when I managed to get home during the Great Escape and a kind fellow from this side sold me his ticket to the Chelsea game. The Marc Albrighton strike made me hoarse and, even though we lost, I could see we had something good going on.
