Travel (for the sake of it) has been an utterly pointless concept for decades. We can see anything from the comfort of our own internet connection. It's nothing more than an attempt to assert superiority over others and create some sense of self worth ('I've been there', 'I've seen this')

Only complete bores go on about travel and experiencing other cultures and all that shite.

I say save yourself a load of money and aggravation and don't travel and experience other places and cultures because other people have already done it and you can see/read about it far cheaper and quicker.

In mitigation, I do know a couple of people, who I would class as "box tickers", who do travel to places just to say they've been there. From the way they talk about some places, it sounds like they might as well just have driven past in a car, on their route to ticking off places as having been visited.

They are not representative, though, of most people I know and they are the sort to bore on about their travels.
