Vardy rarely left his position in the middle, it's as though he was told to stay there and not drift out wide like he does for Leicester.

It's how the players were playing as a unit that counted.
These last 2 friendlies have given me a reason to be a bit more optimistic of our chances of actually putting up a fight rather than wave the white flag.

There is a two page discussion in the Times today about the England line up for the tournament. Vardy’s name is not mentioned once not even in terms of options off the bench. Unlike Rashford of course. No matter what Lako says about Vardy’s form if another english striker playing in a top six team had scored 20 PL goals there would be a huge debate about what role he should play.

As has been said though, all the better for not getting other teams chasing him for a transfer if he doesn’t feature.

Phil McNumpty of the BBC never mentions him. In the build up to the squad being announced he kept banging on about there being no other striker available if Kane got injured. Then there was the friendly where Lingard set up Vardy and scored himself and suddenly he was the one reliable alternative. I actually rate Lingard but if he were playing for Leicester and Vardy for United the opinion would do a complete u-turn.
