I see that the Riders are having an exceptional season and wondered if any of the posters on here actually go to any of the games?

Thinking of going one Saturday night after the footy.

I haven't been this season but have regularly previously.

It's a good night out. I suspect you'd have to get there early currently as the JSC holds no more than 1k (guess). Don't expect a lot of faclities either; a tuck shop and a few vending machines is as good as it gets.

Also, it is always better game if the opposition are worthy. Unlike Football, hammerings are not much fun.

I went once when we were given free tickets by the coach, it was the dullest evening of sport I've ever had to sit through, I guess I just don't like basketball.

I am a season ticket holder at Riders (as well as City) and can thoroughly recommend it. They do play on same game days as City. Like Hazzman says, the facilities are poor but the games are exciting (in my opinion). It took me about a season to get to grips with all the nuances of the game.

Riders are having an exceptional season and play in the BBL Cup Final (equivalent to the FA Cup) on Sunday vs Newcastle at the NIA, 3.45pm tip off live on Sky, if you're interested. Newcastle won all 4 trophies available last season and are the biggest club in British Basketball so a massive challenge for Riders.

Cheers to all for advice.

Is there a big gap between Riders and Newcastle in terms of ability Jimmy?

In terms of history then yes a massive gap. However this season Riders seem to be going head to head with Newcastle.

They are joint top of the league with 14 wins and 2 defeats a piece. They have met once in the league (away at Newcastle) which Riders won, the first time they have beaten them away for over a decade. Newcastle have real quality, big game players and the budget to match but Riders are coming on strong so who knows!

Was unable to watch this but It sounds like a good victory.

Could have the best Basketball team in the UK at this rate?

Newcastle won the lot last year and we could do the same this year

Yes, Sunday was an amazing game... Even for the neutral.

For anyone interested, Riders next home game is this Sunday 20th January vs Surrey Heat at 4pm at the John Sanford Sports Centre. Should be another good one with Surrey right behind Riders in the league table and have already defeated Riders in their one meeting this season so far so Riders will be looking for revenge.
