While we're in the prem we're minted wherever we finish so surely the chance for silverware is more important? Potential European place is a bonus. IMO this competition should be our main focus right now.

With he development squad match being tomorrow night, I wonder if that might influence selection a little? There's probably a couple of names that could go either way. Maybe it means we'll field a strong side in both!

Easier to keep a player of Mahrez’ quality happy when you’re challenging for trophies and Europe.

Set my alarm for 4:45 for this. Don’t **** it up.

I've got to record this and watch it when I get home at around 9-45, so it's gonna be phone off time and hope I don't get told the score

How’s that? I’d have thought Puel would get to choose whoever he wanted (being the manager and all), and they’d make up the development squad with U18’s if required.

I would argue that. A place in Europe surely is worth more than one or two places in the league.
Depends where those one or two places in the league are. For example if we’re in 7th place (which is usually good enough for Europe), I’d imagine the club would more likely want to get 5th or 6th than win the FA Cup.

The FA Cup winners get £1.8 million in prize money, and when TV revenue, gate receipts, extra merchandise sales etc are added, the total income is likely to be around £4 million, which is the same as finishing two places higher in the league.

Vardy and Mahrez to start. If we are 4-0 up at half-time, then rest them and bring Slimani and the rest that couldn't really be arsed to put in a shift the first time.

Bollocks. No. Drop Slimani and the other lazy feckers. If they could not perform the first time, what is the likelihood they will perform any better in the repeat match?

I'm not suggesting it'd be anything other than Puel's selection! I'm just wondering out loud if his selections might be influenced. For example, he might want to give Huth a run out - so today or tomorrow? Ulloa on the bench today or starting tomorrow? That's the sort of thing I mean.

Puel's approach wouldn't be influenced, but the manner he takes and the balance he seeks might be.

I just hope he does not do a 'balancing' act, pick just enough strength to just win.

I would much rather he sent out a strong team to batter them and then rest and use the subs as necessary.

Doesn't "enough strength" indicate a balance? ;)

But whatever, no wish to labour this as it was just a thought.

FWIW, I reckon Puel both can and will select a team tonight with only tonight's match in mind; thoughts of tomorrow and Saturday will not feature.

I think we will see Vardy at some point, because it's Fleetwood, but Mahrez only called on if necessary. Personally, I'd like to see Slimani and Iheanacho start, Dragovic and Amartey given another run, Silva to start if he's ready, Iborra to have some match time, Gray to start...
