for all the hammering he took fort his performance Vs Wolves, the 1 game Evans started is also the only game we kept a clean sheet

Five games in so I think it's time to make a few decisions based on performances to date.

Schmeichel has been poor so far. He's made 13 saves and let in 9 goals. Not a good enough ratio I'm afraid. Drop him for Ward.

Defence has been leaky as feck. Morgan missing gives us a chance to change things. Evans and Soyuncu in for me, I'd bench Maguire as he's quite obviously knackered.

Full backs stay the same as we're playing Huddersfield.

We've become a 'passing' team. Our two most regular players in possession are Maguire and Ndidi. They get the ball the most and neither are great at finding a good forward thinking pass. We need another passer in the team - pick Iborra.

Maddison would be better with two players in front of him. Iheanacho is a much more likely goal threat than any of the other supporting cast behind Vardy so . . .

Ward
Ricardo Soyuncu Evans Chilwell
Mendy
Ndidi Iborra
Maddison
Iheanacho Vardy

We've had a total of 9 yellows and 2 reds from a total of 27 fouls. So, we're either really bad at fouling or we've been very harshly treated by officials.

If we’re going to persist with 4 at the back, that makes a lot of sense. Chilwell and Ricardo provide a lot of attacking threat out wide, even from a deeper staring position and therefore more strength centrally looks like a positive step.

if you want an extra passer in midfield for a Diamond then I'd go Silva over Iborra
I wouldn’t be against that either. The principle is the same, so that would be ok with me.

To clarify (seeing as how this seemed to be missed in the Bournemouth thread) - My preference would still be for a back 3, with Chilwell and Ricardo as wing backs, but, in the absence of any evidence of that being an option, it would seem to me to at least offer some more protection to the central defenders and free up Maddison more, as well as giving him two options up top to link with.

Soyuncu Maguire Evans

Ricardo Mendy NDidi Chilwell

Maddison

Vardy Nacho

Could this

have something to do with this?

That's not the point though.

Schmeichel is the last line of defence. It doesn't matter how poor the defence is when assessing his performance. Whether he is busy or not, his job is to stop as many shots as possible and he's done a pretty poor job of it so far this season. For example, Bournemouth's second goal should never have beaten him. Teams have also beaten him several times and the post/bar have come to his rescue.

His distribution and coming for crosses so far have also been well below par. He's just not on form.

Kasper's distribution has always been vastly overrated, on that note when was the last time he tried that goal kick right over the defenders for Vardy to get in as he can't be offside?

I find it interesting how Kasper fails to improve his distribution and his ability to come for crosses every single season.

He's got obvious strengths but he's got massive weaknesses as well.

As has every human being on the planet.

Same team as last weekend for me, bar Evans in for Morgan.

We set out with attacking intent last time. I was happy with the line up. It may have been the wrong choice away to Bournemouth but more than anything it was the wrong performance.

Pick the same team at home to Huddersfield who will just defend and we will batter them.

If he insists on playing a back-four (which he will), we need to have three in central midfield, so at least one can drop back in to defence and try and offer some cover. I'd bring in Iborra to play alongside Mendy and Ndidi. Up-top I'd have Maddison behind Vardy and Ihenacho.
Sounds good to me.
Over in Germany last week, fans there had lots of praise for Soyuncu and were surprised he came to us and not a so called bigger club.
Give the lad a chance.

looks a good shout to me, we have to pen them in and a good passer is essential, I thought that was Maddison bag?
