Clearly it’s not healthy for the owners etc to interfere with team selection. But they are ambitious. Do you think they would have asked Claude ahead of time if he is planning on taking this seriously or not? And when they found out the line-up, if it didn’t tally with our ambition as a club, suggest that he think again? Should that be Rudkin’s job? Where does the buck stop? Or perhaps they are all content with us chucking this Cup away?

It's not the job of anyone other than the manager to pick the team. He should get the glory for success and he should get the criticism for failure.
