I'd say Praet is the most important player to come in if he is fit enough to start.

as posted in the injury thread

City welcome Sheffield United to King Power Stadium on Sunday hoping to follow up last weekend's win at Brighton & Hove Albion by making it three games unbeaten in the Premier League.

While James Maddison (hip), Harvey Barnes (knee), James Justin (ACL), Wes Morgan (back) and Cengiz Ünder (thigh) remain out for the Foxes, Brendan Rodgers could have three players back in contention.

Evans (calf), Pérez (knee) and Praet (hamstring) are all close to featuring for the Foxes, with some possibly staring against the Blades on Filbert Way at the weekend, the City manager confirmed.

"We've got really good news with Jonny Evans back and he will be available," Rodgers told the media. "Dennis Praet has been training this week as well, so he should be available, and Ayoze Pérez. I’ll check with all those three before we select the team, but it’s great to have those back in the squad.

"He (Pérez) looks very, very good in training. He was doing some finishing exercises this morning and was excellent.

"The thing with him is he actually has a good fitness level because he’s been able to continue with that side of things, but I’ll speak with him later or first thing in the morning and see where he’s at.

"They're all available, which is important, and it gives us that flexibility."

On Maddison, meanwhile, the Northern Irishman reemphasised the need for patience as the England international continues his recovery from an issue in his hip area which returned in February.

"There’s no update," Rodgers added. "I said the other week we’d look at where he’s at probably after the international break.

"Day on day, he’s getting better. There’s no timeline on it. It’s just really about how he’s going to feel and there’s a little bit of soreness there, but he’s working with the medical team very hard and he’s as frustrated as us all really.

"He’s such a big player for us, but hopefully he can play a real part for us in the closing games.

"Like any football player, especially a young player that loves the game, he’s a boy that trains every single day, he loves his football, loves talking about the game, loves improving and becoming better.

"Of course, there’s an element of frustration when he can't do that. He’s in treatment watching everyone else train outside, but after those first few days or so, his spirits have been up. It’s just waiting and seeing how he reacts to some of the work he’s doing.

"It’s in the same area, but it’s not the same injury. There’s obviously a reaction there in the tendon which we need to see how it reacts, but hopefully sooner rather than later, he’ll be back."

On Ünder, Rodgers added: "He'll be a few weeks yet. He hurt his thigh, so he's still out, but there's nothing new to report."

Good to have Praet back, hopefully he can get a run to get him back to match fitness.... just in time for the international break

Nah, it's good that we might be able to take some weight off of Youri. We need him fit and able for our final matches.

Head-to-head

  • Leicester have won all three of the previous Premier League meetings, scoring twice each time.
  • Sheffield United are winless in nine contests in all competitions, losing the last six.
  • The Blades' most recent win over Leicester was 3-0 at home in the Championship in April 2008.
  • This will be the 50th top-flight meeting.
Leicester City

  • Leicester's victory over Brighton last weekend ended a three-match winless run in all competitions.
  • Only 19 of their 53 points have been won at home.
  • In the last three league games at the King Power Stadium, the team that opened the scoring has gone on to lose 3-1.
  • Their six home league defeats have all come despite them starting the day in the top four.
  • The Foxes have scored a league-high 16 goals inside the final 15 minutes of matches.
  • Sheffield-born Jamie Vardy has either scored or provided an assist in all three league appearances against the Blades.
  • Kelechi Iheanacho is looking to score in three consecutive Premier League appearances for the first time.
Sheffield United

  • Sheffield United have lost 22 of their opening 28 Premier League games, equalling the top-flight record.
  • The Blades have lost 11 of their 13 away league fixtures this season, winning one and drawing one.
  • All four of their league wins came in midweek; they have drawn twice and lost 17 times in games played at the weekend.
  • They are the division's lowest scorers, with 16 goals.
  • Two of their four wins have come against sides that begin the weekend in the top 10, however, they have lost all other 14 matches against top-half clubs.
  • Sheffield United have conceded the opening goal in 21 of their 28 league matches.
  • They are without a Premier League away clean sheet since June.

I think Evans may come back in but I'd be surprised if Praet and Perez both started.

Great to have them available again though as we needed more options and a chance to rest players when possible.

Evans has been carrying that calf injury most of the season so I wouldn't play him unless one of Fofana or Soyuncu goes down

With the great news on the injury front, I would go 3-2-3-2.
Kasper
Fofana Evans Soyuncu
Wilf Youri
Perez Tavares Ricardo
Ian Jamie

After 60 minutes, I would swap Praet for Tavares and Albrighton for Perez.

Referee: Peter Bankes.
Assistants: Peter Kirkup, James Mainwaring. Fourth official: Anthony Taylor.
VAR: David Coote.
Assistant VAR: Neil Davies.

Kasper.

Castagne
Fofana
Soyunchu
Thomas

Ndidi
Tielemans

Ricardo
Praet
Albrighton

Vardy

Can't drop Iheanacho

Schmeichel
Ricardo Evans Soyuncu Castagne
Ndidi Tielemans
Praet Iheanacho Albrighton
Vardy

So it looks like the wilder story is complete bullshit. Wouldn't there be an indicator by now if he was actually leaving? Reminds me of all the "pearson sacked" articles we used to get.

Reminds me of the Leeds manager, Brian McDermott, or something like that?

Edit - yes that was him.

I think there has been a conscious effort to get our midfielders beyond Vardy, to offer alternative goal threats, over the recent months. Maddison has obviously prospered from this, but Praet also did this noticeably in the cup game at Stoke and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s asked to do this again in this game.
