He's doing what any ambitious young professional would do. Fair play to the lad. We just need to get mega money and reinvest it incredibly well.

No, he's being a **** and potentially massively damaging our negotioning position.

There are ways to go about engineering a transfer and this is most certainly not the best way to go about it.

Even more so when you consider he signed a new, and likely vastly improved, contract less than 6 months ago but wasn't wise enough to get his buy out in writing.

And then you have to consider we gave him his new contract when he was in rehabilitation from a very serious, and potentially career ending, injury.

We have shown in the past we are more than happy for players to move on when they feel it is better for their career, but only when we have received a value we deem acceptable.

Whether they go on to do any better is largely open for debate but we are very fair we our players.

If Wes wanted to move this summer, he should have refused the new contact which would have kept his value down.

He signed the improved, longer contract so it is to be expected his value is higher - why are we paying him more if we do not believe he is worth any more??

Nail. Head. Contact.

He's not doing anything to our negotiating position at all. There's a price we value him at, regardless of how he behaves. If it's met - he goes, if not, he doesn't. Simples.

I would bet that he has an eye on going to the WC too. That's only going to happen with world class performances for us (assuming he stays) - so hopefully we'll still get plenty out of him this season.

We were happy to sign a player who was a complete **** to the club that game him his professional debut and for whom he played only 20 games. To expect him not to be a **** to us if a bigger team came calling would have been utterly ridiculous. We knew the type of character we were signing.

Sell him for as much as we can get and we'll move on without him. Hopefully he goes to Chelsea and gets another injury.

So Wes can train with the kids as he's no longer relevant to the first team.
Get him cleaning the real players boots.

Rodgers will probably play Evans and Vestergaard in the centre of defence tomorrow.
He might play Amartey and Vestegaard for a laugh.

Aye all of this. Feck him.

I'd rather we keep him, let him languish with the under 21 squad even if it means we get relegated.

We've given him everything and he's given us absolutely nothing in return. We should never give in to blackmail.

Head-to-head

  • Leicester have won 13 Premier League matches against Southampton, their most versus any opponent.
  • Both of Southampton's victories in the past 10 top-flight meetings were by a 2-1 scoreline at King Power Stadium, in January 2019 and January 2020 (D3, L5).
Leicester City

  • The Foxes could fail to win any of their opening three matches of a Premier League season for the first time since 2014-15, when they had just been promoted.
  • Leicester's solitary home league defeat in the past 10 games came against Everton in May (W5, D4).
  • They have conceded an unrivalled 17 top-flight goals from corners since the start of last season.
  • Ayoze Perez has scored nine goals in 13 Premier League games against Southampton.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored 99 Premier League goals since his 30th birthday.
Southampton

  • Southampton came from 2-0 down against Leeds last weekend to earn their first point in six games.
  • Nonetheless, they have failed to win either of their opening two Premier League matches for the eighth season out of nine.
  • Saints are winless in eight away league games since beating Spurs 3-2 in February (D3, L5).
  • They have equalled the club top-flight record of conceding multiple goals in eight successive fixtures.
  • James Ward-Prowse scored four Premier League goals against Leicester, his joint-highest tally versus any side. Three of those goals were penalties.

In theory I’d love to see him languish in the U/3’s and lose a season of his career.

But in reality, we should never let a principle be more important than what’s best for the club.
