McCarthy. They've still got McArthur.Wigan have just lost McArthur
Meanwhile, at left back...
We have a left back?
Striker. Left back. What's the difference?
He played a lot as a left back for the youths and reserves, if I remember correctly, why is he not a left back? What makes him a striker?
Football Manager
So nothing then! :icon_bigg
I get a bit bored of hearing that footballers have a 'position' and if they're played anywhere else, they're 'out of position'. You hear this even of youth players. In most cases, this stems right back to the first time they play football as kids, so the decision of which position someone plays is ultimately down to some random schoolteacher. In my experience it goes along the lines of "he's quick, so he's a striker" and "he's tall, so he's a centre back".
If this was always adhered to, Ashley Cole would still be a striker, Gareth Bale a left back, etc.
