@leicsccc: Leics 235-3 at tea. Sarwan 102* Cobb 74*

Not going too bad. Expect the collapse to start about 16:30.

Cobb & Sarwan main men for runs this season as could be anticipated. I dread to think what happens if these lose form. Top of the order bats are so poor that they could easily be 9,10 Jackj.

Sarwan is virtually playing as a opener, good job he is in form

Harsh to count Jefferson amongst that though Redditch, despite his goldie today he is a decent Championship player.

We could be Glamorgan or Durham, who barely recorded any half centuries or batting points in the first 5 matches! Batting averages for Glam include Allenby at 9.14 and Bragg at 11.00!

As well as the top of the order we have also been in the habit of tailing off quickly after a big partnership so it was good to see the lower order giving support today.

My sarcasm directed at Jefferson was more about how injury prone he is - and always has been. Although taking account of his frame I suppose its quite surprising that he manages to play at all!

Anyway - I intend to go to to-days play - and hope to see the tail extend the total to at least 400.

Useful wicket getting Westley at the end today. Would be nice to get them out for under 300 now.

Good effort from Wayne White so far this season, 13 wickets at under 25, and a batting average > bowling average....the mark of a true allrounder!

I really don't know how long that Boyce, Smith and you can add on Du Toit (obviously) can continue to make a career in first class cricket. It's a joke - I did have hopes at Smith at one stage because he used to look like a batsman who doesn't like to give away his wicket....but its failure after failure interspersed with the occasional knock that seems to keep them in the team for the next half a dozen matches. Yes and I have noticed that Boyce has possibly done slightly better than last season...which doesn't amount to much.

Agree.

Smith could do with a run in the seconds and see if Ben Smith can teach him how to build an innings again.

Perhaps a cheeky move for Ramps on loan would be a useful short term move.

County just scored 167 runs in last ten overs to set up a declaration against some "joke" bowling.

White and Eckersley both hit fifties in around 12 balls each

Sarwan out for 98, second time in the nineties in two matches!

Essex need 270 to win in 60 overs.

The problem is that County seconds is a poor standard & players like him, Boyce, Du Toit find it easy to score at that level.

Essex had a couple of decent seam bowlers - both ex- Leicestershire - and they are blown away on what was not a difficult wicket - on Thurs our seam attack laboured and it looked easy.
