Ex-football star must pay £50,000
Lenny Glover played for Foxes between 1967 and 1977
Ex-Leicester City star Lenny Glover was ordered to pay up £53,000 after being convicted for his part in a drugs ring.
Glover was found guilty in May of acting as a courier for cannabis dealer Stuart Stanger from Norfolk.
The 60-year-old ex-footballer ferried drugs money between Leicester and Essex on a string of trips in 2001 and 2002.
He has six months to pay and if he fails to do so, his sentence could be extended. Courts can order criminals to forfeit money they reap from crime.
The former Foxes winger was arrested when police found £28,000 in his car after stopping him for speeding.
Glover was jailed for three-and-a-half years at Nottingham Crown Court in May.
'Del-Boy'
He was told on Friday he must repay £53,374 he made from his part in the £1m-plus conspiracy.
Judge John Burgess said: "I accept that he was not receiving the full sum he was transporting, but was receiving a small percentage."
Glover appeared under The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, which lets police seize £5,000 or more if they believe the money is from illegal activities. The onus falls on the owner to prove it is legitimate.
Glover protested his innocence throughout his trial, claiming he was no more than a wheeler-dealing, Del-Boy-type character.
But the jury was told he moved between £20,000 and £30,000 in drugs money weekly between January 2001 and May 2002. He was convicted of conspiracy to supply Class B drugs.
Glover, who lived in Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire, at the time of his arrest, was among 11 men sentenced to a total of 63 years.
Ringleader Stanger, 37, of Norwich, admitted conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs and received a 13-year term.
