Can't believe people are saying HF isn't an avid fan of all things 'Brokeback Mountain' like? He has captured Homer and together they 'rustle' sheep in the Highlands before retiring to their naughty bed at the end of their busy day.

HF is a very naughty man.

So that's settled that debate....

Thanks Webbo - I really felt it needed clarification.

i can't criticise him for his effort, he certainly cant be accused of not trying. his ability to perform for city wasnt great and that is what has let him down, but you can't criticise a player for that if they tried

I thought he was an okay striker, but hey £3m.. he wasn't any world beater and proved that by the fact he is now barely used at Wigan.

People have very short memories. He is/was a good striker at this level. It took him a while to get going when he first joined us because the quality of service was very poor, that and we struggled really to find a decent partner for him. Anyone who went to a game would tell you that.

His form towards the end of that season was top draw and his goals contributed to us beating the drop under Levein. I think he finished the season on 14 odd goals...that is not too shy of the number of LEAGUE goals that Dickov scored for us in our promotion season, which I think was about 17 (20 including cup competition), yet everyone licked Dickovs arse raw!

Connolly then started the following season on fine form and scored an excellent hatrick against Stoke, showing exactly what he could do in the penalty area. He would surely have finished top goal scorer that season for us, and possibly have been a shout for top scorer in the division overall. He was in form when he left, and we sorely missed him.

The people who chant huuuummme for every touch on the ball he has don't think about giving his record for us any stick, nor do they/will they give matty Fryatt any stick for his lean spell. So why does Connolly always get lambasted. What did he do that was vastly different from Fryatt and Hume?

If you are concerned that he was only in it for himself I urge you to wake up and smell whatever it is you are dealing, this is football and sadly the days of loyalty are dead. They all only give a sh*t about themselves!

What is the point in slagging off someone who's only crime as far as I can tell was keeping his head down and getting on with it. He didn't punch any of his team mates and sue the club, he didn't let off any fire extinugushers in hotels, he even didn't get arrested and incarcerated in a Spanish prison for hanging around in bars with German Prostuitutes...

He did an alright job for us so I won't tarnish it by labelling him shit just because he isn't here anymore. Good luck to him I say.

Yes, £3m was a high price to pay for Connolly, but hey- how could we moan about receiving that amount of money? Imo, we haven't missed him anyways.

Well Said Silver.

Never knew that. Always assumed it was just a %ge of whatever, regardless of previous costs. Learn something every day.

Unfortunately as it's only 5 minutes into September 1st, I may as well stay in bed for the next 23 hours 55 minutes!

Connolly is /was a decent Championship striker..no more,no less IMO.

Connolly is everything I like in a man, tight bum, young looks, a little bedraggled, innocent and slightly dirty looking - with a glittered dutch past. Let me tell you, within two minutes of him arriving in my house, i'd have him covered in baby gravy.

Right, now that is enough HF.
