The first time I heard of football hooligans was sometime in the mid sixties. There were photos in the newspaper of the inside of a "football special" train that had been smashed up. It was carrying Liverpool fans.

I bought Sky Sports and Bt Sports for this Christmas especially for these fixtures. Unfortunately I shelled out when we were having a good spell under RVN in his first games. I'll have it on but it'll be VERY secondary now, unless a Christmas Miracle happens.

Not unless you also have Amazon Prime

Vardy and Mads being “monitored” (read that as “won’t play”).

Jakub is available by Ruud went out of his way to mention Ward.

Very real that our lineup is some version of this:

Ward

Justin
Faes
Coady
Kristiansen

Winks
Soumare

Ayew
Mavididi
El Khannouss

Daka

I count one premier league footballer in that lineup.

Gone by end of January, I reckon.

If there are any niggles with Vardy or Hermansen then fair enough. Little point risking them in a game we're going to get humiliated in anyway whoever plays. Just write it off.

Then we can concentrate on being as helpful as possible in stopping Man City's shit run, be at full strength to lose at Villa, then play some reserves in a home defeat in the cup.
Then we can restart the season & be bottom by the end of January.

All going swimmingly well as usual.

I suspect Chelsea won’t want us to play Mads in case he gets injured ( not that I’m cynical you understand ).

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in 12 Premier League home games against Leicester since losing three in a row between 1997 and 2000.
  • The Foxes have won two of their past 12 top-flight matches versus the Reds, drawing one and losing nine.

Liverpool

  • This is the 21st time Liverpool have been top of the English top flight on Christmas Day, more than any other side. They have gone on to win the league on 11 of the previous 20 occasions.
  • The Reds have lost one of 25 matches under Arne Slot (W21, D3), and are unbeaten in each of the past 21.
  • Slot has taken 39 points from his opening 16 Premier League matches as a manager, a figure bettered only by Antonio Conte and John Gregory.
  • The Merseysiders have won their past seven league matches on Boxing Day and have not lost at home on 26 December since Norman Whiteside struck the only goal for Manchester United in 1986.
  • This is the sixth Premier League season in which Mohamed Salah has both scored and assisted 10 or more goals, breaking Wayne Rooney's record of five campaigns with double figures for both metrics.
  • Salah has scored 99 goals in 141 Premier League home games, including two goals for Chelsea.
  • Diogo Jota is one shy of 100 career league goals, while Curtis Jones is one short of 100 Premier League appearances.

Leicester City

  • Leicester have won one of their past nine league matches (D2, L6).
  • They are at risk of losing three consecutive league games by a margin of at least three goals for the first time since 1958.
  • The Foxes have conceded the opening goal in a league-high 13 of their 17 top-flight fixtures this season.
  • Leicester's only win in their past 10 league games on Boxing Day was 2-1 against Manchester City in 2018.
  • Jamie Vardy has scored eight Premier League goals against Liverpool, a tally bettered by only Andrew Cole and Harry Kane, who have 11 and nine respectively.
  • Vardy has failed to score in any of his seven Premier League appearances on Boxing Day.

We are going to get absolutely walloped aren't we. I can't even bring myself to watch it. I'm going to drink and put Netflix on and pretend it's not really happening.

You can get odds of 30/1 a Leicester win. Has there ever been longer odds on one team winning a one off premier league match?

You can also get about 8/1 on Everton winning at Man City which seems decent right now

Notwithstanding the absolute thrashing we will receive, this whole fixture is just total dogshit

I used to bloody love the Boxing Day fixture, home or away - a fantastic and integral part of the whole Christmas period. Turkey sandwich then off to the match. Couple of beers. Santa hat. Some stupid jingle bells songs. Back home for Boxing Day evening of drink food and games - or maybe off to the local.

But ****ing 8.00 kick off is absolutely ****ing wank - especially away at that ****ing cesspit.

Modern football is completely and utterly ****ing shit
