Henderson - 6. Did nothing wrong and was blameless with the goals
Steraman - 1. Worst 1st team performance of his career
McCarthy - 4. Very poor performance
Johansson - 4. Not up to the pace of their winger

Maybury - 5. Anonymous
Johnson - 5. Anonymous
Williams - 6. Not bad/Not good
Tiatto - 2. Why did we re-sign him?

Hume - 3. Very ineffective but is allowed an off day
Fryatt - 7. Best outfield player which isn't saying much.

Henderson - 6 - better than Rab C Nesbitt.

Stearman - 5 - redeemed himself in the second half somewhat.

Kenton - 7 - but i would move him to right back when kisnorbo is fit. I feel we need someone with more presence in the centre. Hence, the panick whenever the ball was played into the box today.

McCarthy - 6 - didn't do anything drastically wrong but thought he was pushed off the ball too easily when challenging for headers

Johannson - 6 -o.k.

Maybury - 5 - did what he is capable of. But not a right winger!

Williams - 6 - our most creative player but didn't have too many options. he was never going to rely on our wide men and there was only fryatt making any sort of runs up front.

Johnson - 6 - worked hard but didn't get a grip of the game. I wonder if Weso might push him?

Tiatto - 6 - thought he did o.k. He is not going to create anything though and is not a winger.

Fryatt - 7 - worked his socks off but given no service.

Hume - 4 - where was he?

Subs:
Hammond - 5 - no impact
O'grady - 5 - why was he playing out wide?
Hughes - 5 - no real impact but little time.

Henderson 6 - Did ok, and made one very good save.

Stearman 3 - Absolutely shocking performance, should have been taken off IMO. Needs to improve big time.

McCarthy 5 - Made a couple of decent last ditch tackles and did pose a threat at set pieces, however did seem to be struggling getting himself into the right position, the Luton forwards seemed to be getting beyond him to often.

Kenton 6 - Best of a poor bunch IMO.

Johansson 4 - When will somebody fecking realise he isn't a left back, he is too slow and doesnt have the mobility to get forward and support. He was at sixes and sevens trying to mark Barrett or Barnett (whatever his name was)at set pieces.

Maybury 5 - Thought he did ok, worked hard and put himself about, problem is he is being played out of position and he is not providing the natural width we so desperately need.

Johnson 5.5 - Looked solid enough, showed decent composure in possession, but didnt support the attack enough, which meant the strikers were isolated.

Williams 5.5 - Tried to make things happen, still too lightweight, when the games is physical he goes missing. Didnt feel he got forward enough, didnt get beyond the strikers like a true attacking midfielder should.

Tiatto 5 - See Maybury except for the out of position part. Isn't a natural winger and it shows.

Hume 4 - Piss poor and off the pace. Very disappointing, granted there was little in the way of service but last season he was the type of player who made things happen, today he looked disinterested.

Fryatt 5 - Flashes of what he is capable of, but again like Hume seemed off the pace.

Henderson - 6 - Not his fault for either goal and made one good stop. Needs to command area better at set pieces

Stearman - 4 - Awful 'backpass'. Shrugged off the ball too eaisly, nervous.
McCarthy - 5 - Ok. but didn't win enough headers.
Kenton - 6 - Ditto McCarthy, although his pace was useful for making up for our full backs' errors.
Johannson - 4 - Can't deal with wingers. Can't mark to save his life. Not a left back. Will be our weak link all season.

Maybury - 5 - Didnt lose possesion too much, but didn't do anything with it either. not fast enough. Not a winger!!!
Johnson - 5 - Not one good forwards pass.
Williams - 5 - Good free kick. Not one tackle. Good ideas with through balls but not executed well enough
Tiatto - 4 - Cant pass, slow, fouls alot, does not keep his position. Not a winger!!!

Fryatt - 6 - Tried hard first half, some good runs, no service in the second.
Hume - 4 - One or two decent flicks. Anonymous.

Subs
Hammond - 6 - Made good runs
O Grady - 6 - Looked much more dangerous than Hume
Hughes - 5 - Did nothing. NOT A WINGER!!!

On this showing it is apparent that with the people we play on the flanks, we will have no joy. Luton had fast pacy wingers who were not afraid to run at people.

Maybury, Tiatto, Hughes will all look inside to pass, and never go around the outside for lack of pace and skill. If they do get past their man, what are the chances of a half decent cross??

If we are going to play 4-4-2, then Porter and Low must start. Our play is too narrow and predictable at the moment.

The best formation for me would be 3-5-2. Stearman and Kenton/Nisse full backs, and 3 centre backs. Then we could have 3 from Williams/Hughes/Johnson/Wesolowski in the middle.

This is not a criticism of RK, just the players and funds at his disposal. 3-5-2 seems like the best option now, but it is probably too late to change. It is only the first game of the season and we should still have faith in RK to play to our strengths and get the best out of Williams, Hume and Fryatt.

Roll on Barnsley...

I think the two 5.5s are each half a point on the generous side, but otherwise agree with all of these!

I don't get these player ratings. There are lots of 5's, 6's and 7's.

If you are not going to give them 2's or 3's after todays performance, just how low do you think we can sink?
