Whilst it would be great to take this attitude, it would be very counter productive.

Why? We did that for Ulloa last season and that has clearly worked. Fans thinks he's great and the owners are offering him a new increased (and well deserved) contract.

But wouldn't taking just £35M in this current climate be just as crazy? At least when holding out for more there might be a chance (albeit small) that he will give something in return? Or am I on a different planet?

You're on my planet. ;)

Some good points for the opposite of what I suggested. I'm glad it's not me having to decide what to do. My gut says **** him and take the loss if he's shit this season.

I just want to say before anyone gets cross at me that he's easily the best footballer I've seen playing for Leicester and an absolute genius. But last season was a joke.

I said exactly the same - they'll probably get cross at you.

Clubs would be stupid to offer the £50m or whatever he could be worth. His performances this season and his public pleas to get out of the club puts us in a shit position. The Arse know we have a choice of accepting less than we would get for his ability or keep a player who won't be of any use to us. Take the 35 and move on.

This could be a rare occasion where the fact the transfer window shuts a few weeks after the start of the season helps us/him.

Watch him pick up his performances in the first few weeks if he's still here by kick off and then get a move before the deadline.

Don't sell for under £45 million.

Plenty of years on his contract.

Time for him to grow up and understand the economics of 'supply and demand'.

Play better = get transfer and City get correct fee,
Play shit = Become the Andy king of wingers.
Your choice Riyad.

Arsenal would have paid £50m for him last summer.

If Mahrez had wanted to go last summer he would have gone. His agent would have put feelers out to Barcelona and the rest and obviously no-one was interested.

Maybe he thinks because he had a mostly crap season, like most of the rest of the team, we will be happy to sell him cheap.

We do not need to, particularly as nearly all of whatever we sell him for is profit. This is not a depreciating asset that we need to cut our losses with. If Mahrez wants someone to come in and offer big bucks, then he has to start playing again like POTY.

If he does then he can go in January to someone still in the Champions League finals.
