I was just having a look at the average stats that our best known managers have produced

O'Neill P-223 W-85 D-68 L-70 Average points per game = 1.44
Adams P-111 W-41 D-32 L-38 Average points per game = 1.40
Levein P-72 W-20 D-26 L-20 Average points per game = 1.20

Compare this to:
Ollie P-24 W-6 D-6 L-12 Average points per game = 1.00

Is one point per game going to be enough? Proabably not, and even I doubt that 1.44 per game would be.

Almost 1.5 points per game under O'Neil. 2.0 points per game is title winning form.... oh the pain!

More worryingly Ollie is doing a great deal worse than Levein, who is still seen as the anti christ by some, and IMO with far greater resources.

Win Percentage:

Micky Adams 36.93%
Peter taylor 35 %
Gary Megson 33.33%
David Pleat 32.02 %
Rob Kelly 32.81%
Craig Levein 27.7%
Ian Holloway 25%

Bottom in a bad list.

Well I never really understood why people were so negative about Megson. He wasn't doing a bad job whatsoever (people were calling for his head after just a couple of weeks). It's probably some of the utter shit he received from some morons that nudged him away from here. I'm not saying the call of a Premier League side is nothing but the reaction from some people here probably didn't help him stay.

you need to remember, MA2 brought in alot of players and negativity, i think IH spent too much time getting rid of the bad vibes then concentrate on getting results, long term wise i think we will suvive and he will have the summer to really get us ready for next season in which i can see us doing better

For some (unknown to me) reason, a lot of fans prefer a manager with a good personality rather than by a managers ability to do his job.

IMO, that showed Holloways inability to manage those players.

Megson didn't leave because his sensibilities were offended by not being loved - the Bolton fans weren't begging him to join them - he joined a higher league club.
Megson is everything I do not like, in management terms; seven, eight defenders and hope to steal a goal but, if he were still here, and if we were in the same position we are now, I would be arguing to keep him. We have tried short termism - it hasn't worked, it does not work and it will not work.
It seems clear that Holloway wanted to bring in better wingers in January with the Hungarians as back up: has it crossed anybody's mind that players may have declined the opportunity to come to Leicester, at least in part, because, with our reputation for management change, they might find themselves not part of the set up weeks after signing?
Repeated change leads to destabilization at all levels.

I don't think you should could cup games in the stats, league games are what's important.

So that would leave Megson with a win record of 14%

it would proberbly bring Levein's record down as well

Below is the average points per game for the managers career. Obviously MON is at the top and equally obvious Ollie is near the bottom.

I'm just surprised that not only are there two Jim Magilton's but that they have exactly the same record! Incredible.

Both Mick McCarthys seem to have a similar record as well

And it suits you to do that because you hated Megson:icon_lol:

I think that refers to my first teacher at primary school.

please excuse my rushed attempt to pass some information. But please dont miss the point about the managers abilitys
