Newton - a straightforward question 'Why does it matter that Newell has played for us?'

I just wondered if anyone thinks that this makes any difference.

It might make a difference if it got the fans behind the team and manager more, creating a better atmosphere.

But we should go for the best man available, and if he turns out to be someone the fans identify with, that's a bonus.

When we were looking for managers earlier in the season, those of us who wanted Grayson were accused of doing so just because he used to play for us, which was bollocks, it was because he'd done a good job at Blackpool. I'm sure we'd have done better under Grayson than we have under Holloway.

The fans will automatically get behind the team if they give them something to cheer. It's hard to get excited when they clearly don't give a fcuk!!

Apparantly Grayson is unsettled because he fears he wont recieve sufficient transfer cash(he knoows they got lucky this season and without cash they will go down next season)
He would bring at least one more ex fox in Steve Thompson and i believe would be a popular fans choice (excellent knowledge of D1 having just got an average team promoted out of it with little/no funds and..give him a chance

Plus i know Thommo and could get real inside info!

I can't believe I'm saying this, and shows our current predicament, but... would Grayson really want to leave Blackpool to come here? A bit of a step backwards, even if next season they could well be swapped over again.

I think he would want to leave Blackpool pretty soon, he's taken them about as far as it's possible to take a club of their size.

But I doubt whether he'll want to move down a division, he'll probably get offers from Championship clubs.

To be fair he'd have been hard pushed to do any worse.
Chris Almighty, man!!!!!

We finished in a mini league of three teams, where did we finish? TOP OF THE GROUP!!!!!! FFS!!!

Any chance for people to blame Ollie and they'll grab it.

Ollies army, ollie, giz a wave..........yeah

By all accounts, he'd have walked over shards of flaming glass to have taken the job last year...I'd imagine that the motivation for him to replace this club back into the Premiership would remain quite high.

But, we are never going to pay off one manager and then spend the money paying off a club for another one.

OK, I know that I am fighting a losing battle, both on here, and probably in reality too, with a call for stability but, may I ask one question?
It is almost certain that MM will jettison Holloway: how long will you give his replacement? If we are middle to bottom of the table after six games of next season, does he go? Does he get until Christmas, whatever? Do we leave him for a full season? Or do we give him about eighteen months, as most people recognise this to be the length of time it takes a manager to get a club in his own image?
I know that the decision will ultimately be Milan's, but what is the fans position?

The man brought in a whole new team to add the pool of players we already had and got us relegated. There is only one outcome, and the sooner the better.

You can't possibly say - it depends upon his demonstrated competence, or otherwise

Ideally he'd get a full season, at least, to be judged - but if we are cast adrift from the play-off zone (or, god forbid, even worse) at around Crimbo time, then expect the hangman to be hovering

I guess the answer to that is ultimately down to what we see on the field. If we were middle to bottom but we had seen some signs of improvement and good things to come then I'd keep him on.yes the points tally pissed people off last season of course but I think the passion less sppineless performances week in week out was the thing that turned people against IH.There were no signs that we were improving not even slight ones.I'm all for Stability and giving the Manager a chance but IH was clearly out of his depth and I see no point in giving him another season

I think it's fair to say that if by Christmas we are at the bottom of the table, then the Manager is shite. Can you not see that?

Would you want to remain stable in that position?

After six games (per your exapmle), I would defo start to be worried if we are at the bottom, but not yet ready to sack the Manager.

I heard yesterday that Holloway has already cleared his office. How true it is i do not know but the guy works for LCFC.
