Looks like next Saturday will be the last time I can drive, park and walk to the match.

I'm seriously pissed off about this. Where else is there to park and walk to the ground from that side of the City? Seriously considering whether to bother going at all any more. The Club and Council advise fans to use City Centre car parks or a park and ride. Well, sorry but they can feck off.

Wow, interesting reaction, there are plenty of places walkable are you really that lazy. We walk from blaby for every home game.

Some people can't walk that far though.

I understand that and don't advocate everyone walking from Blaby but the reaction to this seems over the top. If someone is disabled the club have parking schemes

Maybe if you lived in that area and found it impossible to park your car within half a mile of your home on a Saturday afternoon you might have a different opinion.

Nope, I don't think so. Most of the people round there are students anyway. There aren't many cars there at other times. And I wouldn't be happy about being told I've got to pay to park outside my own house.

I live opposite a school and twice a day, there are cars everywhere and it's chaos. But I knew what it would be like before I moved in and I'm used to it.

Nothing to do with being lazy and I bet there are a lot of others that will go to games less because of this. I'm already having to get to a parking space two hours before the match starts and walk a mile each way. I've had that routine for the last decade. This will mean I can't do this any more and there is nowhere to park now in that area and further away the demand for spaces will just get silly. So do I leave even earlier, park even further away, walk five miles to the game, get a bus/park and ride, pay to park somewhere? My answer to all these is no, I won't do it.

This won't only affect football fans, it will crucify the businesses on Narborough Road too. The area is declining enough as it is but this will push it further down.

But if you're walking from the area that's going to become residents only, a walk from where you can park won't much difference.
But there will be more people wanting the spaces in the reduced number of streets where you can park, meaning some of them will be forced to park further away. It surprises me that my street isn't rammed every match day, considering it's only a 15 minute walk from the stadium.

Do you really have to get there two hours before the match?

I've never got there that early, and I never used to have problems parking, often closer to the ground than you do.

I bet you could easily find a parking space an hour later than you do now, and still have more than enough time time to walk to the ground.

Is your problem really that you're used to your current routine, and don't want to change?

Obviously. But if BN is walking a mile each way, an extra half mile is not much different.

I used to live events on Lavender Rd which is a bit further out and that was a fooking nightmare from about midday onwards for either football or rugby. General rule was not to go out in the car on a Saturday otherwise you wouldn't be able to park on your own road until gone 6.

Needed move imo but can understand BN's frustration as public transport to matches is shockingly bad and also shaftingly expensive and something should be done about that.

I park less than a mile away over near Aylestone Road, have few problems parking, and usually park there at about 2:45.

Some on Facebook not too happy either
Just having a drink on the local hero before the match, can't park under the bridge now, been parking there for over 20 years ! I'm sorry to say I won't be renewing my season ticket next year, it's getting ridiculous trying to park on match day parked in carpark by tigers ground £6.40 ... Fkn joke !

Funny - I'd always thought of BN as somebody who would be old enough to have a bus pass.

When I attend, I park on the carpark down from the holiday inn, costs 2.50 but not sure how far away it is down the canal

By 90 mins before the game, there are no parking spaces on that side of the ground for a long way, aside from an occasional freak one appearing. Sometimes I've got there at 13.15 and can't get a space. I'm not making it up. And this is before these changes.

If you know where I can park in the west side of the City, within a mile of the ground, at 2pm, by all means let me know. I've tried parking on the other side of the ground (Aylestone Road/Saffron Lane) but getting back across town afterwards is a nightmare.

You're quite right that I don't want to change my routine. It's annoying and makes me attending games less of a draw. I spoke to one mate today who was going to get tickets for the Fulham game and when I told him he's not be able to park where he usually does for the game, he said he's not going to bother. And he isn't on facebook either.
