Matchday Parking

I understand that and don't advocate everyone walking from Blaby but the reaction to this seems over the top. If someone is disabled the club have parking schemes

I'm not disabled although I do have leg/back problems and a limp. But more than any additional discomfort, I can't be arsed to walk more than a mile to a game of football.

Too feckin' right I don't. Bunch of tossers telling each other when they've wiped their arse.

:081:
You sure you're not old enough to have a bus pass?

Nope, I don't think so. Most of the people round there are students anyway. There aren't many cars there at other times. And I wouldn't be happy about being told I've got to pay to park outside my own house.

I live opposite a school and twice a day, there are cars everywhere and it's chaos. But I knew what it would be like before I moved in and I'm used to it.

Nothing to do with being lazy and I bet there are a lot of others that will go to games less because of this. I'm already having to get to a parking space two hours before the match starts and walk a mile each way. I've had that routine for the last decade. This will mean I can't do this any more and there is nowhere to park now in that area and further away the demand for spaces will just get silly. So do I leave even earlier, park even further away, walk five miles to the game, get a bus/park and ride, pay to park somewhere? My answer to all these is no, I won't do it.

This won't only affect football fans, it will crucify the businesses on Narborough Road too. The area is declining enough as it is but this will push it further down.

No, the residents are not mostly students. I have been a resident in the area for twenty years and the scheme is welcomed by the majority of people who LIVE there and not just view it as a means of going to a match once a fortnight or to shop as they're too ****ing tight to pay parking. We even have arseholes constantly parking across our drive blocking us in because they're too lazy or inconsiderate arses. When my wife or myself have to walk with shopping and three kids for half a mile because the road is too packed to get near your own house, or you're late for work because you can't get your own car out of your own drive because some I'm alright jack has blocked you in that's when you vote for residents parking. £25 a year? I'd pay double

I hope for your same the charge remains reasonable. In London we pay for a parking permit and the second year of the scheme the price doubled along with the cost of visitors permits (10 for £50).

Paying to park on street in London is just under a fiver an hour!

If he can't park there due to cost he'll still be no worse off than now.

Blimey, what drivel. There are consequences wherever you live. As I said before, I live opposite a school and so often get blocked on my drive, or even cars parking on my drive blocking my garage. But shit happens. Wherever you live, you have issues as a result. You choose to live somewhere close to the City and the football ground and are happy to accept the advantages that gives you. As a result, shit will happen. If you live 10+ miles away, you'll sometimes get the shit happening of delays or incidents travelling in and out of town.

This is just a bunch of residents association, council hassling, neighbourhood watch loving arseholes wanting to impose rules where they're not needed or wanted. You don't own the roads where you live. You just live there.

Every single thing you've said there is equally applicable to your arsehole response to having to park somewhere else to watch a game of football.

I was late leaving yesterday (1-35pm) due to a flat tyre. We still managed to get parked and be sat in the ground by 2-55. there are times when I've found it difficult to park but I just accept that as a car owner there are times when I'm going to have to pay to park it. From what I recall there are quite a few enterprising souls who open up their car parks in the industrial estate by Morrisons and only charge a few quid, often for charity. Unfortunately the ptb saw fit to close the old filbert street wasteground parking area which at a fiver a time (I thought) was quite reasonable.

Anyone got any advice for where to park then? I drive over from Birmingham so need to be on that side of the city for easy motorway access.

It's a while since I've done it, but I always used to find that the traffic was better if I avoided Narborough Road, and instead went up Soar Valley Way after coming off the motorway, then turning left onto Aylestone Road. Plenty of parking within 10 minutes walk of the ground.

Lutterworth/Aylestone Road is a bit of a nightmare now they have pissed about with the traffic lights and now put bus lanes in too. Definitely the best area to park though imo between Aylestone Road and Saffron Lane but you'd be better going straight on at Soar Valley Way and then work your way down Aylestone Drive/Milligan Road.

If you get out sharpish at the end you'll be fine going back on Aylestone Road and when you get to turn to Soar Valley Way you can now use either left or right lane to go right onto Soar Valley Way which should speed things up for you.

I've just looked at a map and you turn left onto Lutterworth Road, which then becomes Aylestone Road.

It's been a bit of a nightmare around there the last few weeks as they're installing a bus lane.

Totally agree, Lutterworth Road should be avoided because of the ridiculous 24-hour bus Lane that's been installed to generate revenue from fines. And during the cricket season Milligan Road should be avoided if Leics are at home.

Don't drive illegally in the bus lanes and you won't be fined. Lots of new double yellows especially under the bridge by the gas depot.

Saffron lane is your best bet . Aylestone Road is mainly double yellow. You have to be early though. Any later than 1.00pm and you will be struggling
