Go with me on this one please. I would like to know where people frequent pre match and if they like a beer/meal or just turn and watch. I have contacted the club about the poor facilties on offer (ie the 1884) and have been asked down to put any suggestions etc forward. I have my own thoughts about price/ poor product/ not family friendly etc. So basically the question is why dont you go in the 1884 and what would make you?

It's too busy, takes an eternity to get served, dimwits stand gossiping around the area of the bar instead of moving to a vacant area and I refuse to queue outside where people are trying to walk through the queue to get to the ticket office/other areas of the ground.

I'm not looking for a bar and I'm not looking for something to do pre-match in or around the ground. I would rather spend my time away from the stadium and make my way to the turnstiles in just enough time to get to my seat as the teams come out.

Having said that, I do occasionally go in the 1884 after the match when it is much quieter, when I can have a choice of comfortable chairs, when I can actually hear the match reports on SSN. This would only be when I am booked on a later than normal train; I would then leave the 1884 with just enough time to get to the station ticket barriers and then to the platform in time for the arrival of my train.

Basically there is nothing that could be done that would make me want to go to the 1884 or any other stadium facility before the match (except perhaps topless women's football).

The Birch may as well give up and go home then :icon_wink

It's shit, the beer is shit, the prices are shit, the people in there are complete shitheads (esp. the Inner Circle wankers), and I take my five year old son with me and I'm sure that he would think that the whole experience is totally shit

If I wanted a beer before the game I would go to a pub - other than that I am going to a feckin' football game and I do not wish to see any other 'family experience' bollocks prior, during or after the game in or around the stadium

The quality of the ale is poor. Sort that out, and I may go back!

I was in there for the first time in ages at the Leyton Orient game and to be honest the 1884 beer made my local pub bollock wash seem like the ultimate amber nectar. it was quite possibly the worst beer i've ever had. i left some of it and went onto the bottled stuff.

i tend to start off in our local about 12ish, head down about half 1ish, have a beer in a pub which changes match by match. could be the hero, the holiday inn, the 1884 or just straight to the concourse.

watch them win , and then go back to the local for many more.

I went into the 1884 bar a couple of years ago. As people have said the beer is poor and the layout isn't brilliant either. The worst thing though was that I nearly missed the game as my shoes were stuck to the floor. Do they ever clean that floor?

These days I tend to start off in Blaby, head to The R & D then to the ground about half an hour before kick off.

I tend to use the 1884 as I park at the Holiday Inn or the Rowing Club and really can't be bothered to walk for miles to find an alternative. However, the quality of the beer could be improved. The prices could come down and it could go back to being season ticket holders and members like it was at the beginning, this would make it a more enjoyable experience IMO.

Oh yes, and get some decent bar staff in. It doesn't cost anything to smile and be pleasant, and maybe serve those that have been waiting longest before your mates that have just walked in!

This is Leicester you are talking about

The beer is rubbish, but the place doesnt get used Mon-Thurs and so the beer has stayed in the pumps all week. If they washed the pipes out Saturday morning it would be a lot better.

My main problem with it is the price, a bottle of Corona is £3 and a bottle of Magners almost £4.

:038: spot on sir :038:

It's too bastard hot in there, and crowded. We moved to the Holiday Inn a few weeks back now but lots of others had the same idea and now that is getting as bad. Though it is only £10 for 4 pints.
