Gutted for Jess Varnish and Victoria Pendleton! Disqualified after making the final as they swapped positions in the wrong place. Their own fault of course, but frustrating as it was a great chance for another gold.

Now the Chinese pair have done the same thing

And then China, after winning gold in the final, have been deemed to have done the same, so Germany win the gold medal!

Jill Douglas playing the role of anti-Shreeves got to break the news to Germany that they'd won it.

So who got silver and bronze? Surely if we were disqualified then so must the Chinese?

China got the silver, Australia got bronze.

BBC commentators said China only get moved to second because you're disqualified from the current round, not the entire competition. China were in a round of two, so could only finish second.

Eh? Surely it doesn't matter how many are in the round?

BBC just mentioned that Jamieson is the only GB swimmer to get a PB in these Olympics. Seems like they have peaked a year early.

It's not difficult...

China got to the final without being disqualified. There were only two teams in the final. Therefore they got a silver after being disqualified in the final.

GB were disqualified in the qualifying round.
The term officially used was relegated.
China relegated to 2nd, GB to 4th.
If you are disqualified from an event, you're disqualified from it's entirety, surely?

They were disqualified in that race, not the entire event.

Why should a mistake in the final cost them the medal they deserved for getting there?

If you have a goal disallowed when you're already 3-0 up, would you wipe out the previous three goals too?

Gold Number 6
Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins triumphed in the women's double sculls.
Grainger, 36, was a silver medallist at three previous Games, with the world champions clocking six minutes 55.82 seconds

Another 50p worth of rail travel vouchers for bocadillo - well done, ladies!

Old Adlington disappoints a nation (apparently) and gets bronze.

Loved her interview after though.... followed a while later by Clare Balding's apology for being too negative!

Two more golds in the cycling and now we're 3rd in the medal table - above our fourth place target! Jess Ennis leads the Heptathlon going into the second day too. And Andy Murray into the Tennis final against Federer - repeat from Wimbledon. Brilliant!

Women's triathlon tomorrow, and a girl who lived in my block in halls in Uni is competing - so excited to see how she does!

Loving this Olympic stuff.

Just to throw it out there, my sister ran against Ennis and I think Hazel and beat them both at 200m and the hurdles at English school level. She didn't carry on with it though past 16.
