i was in pen 2 and as soon as the dozy steward in front of me took his hat off i stormed onto the pitch to celebrate:icon_bigg

What are u talking about? I thought there were some great players, even in that shite season! Walshy, Kevin Russell was exiting as a supersub.....Gary Mills( great technician )...dazzling Tommy Wright....a battling Ally Mauchlen...though players such as Martin Bodge, sorry Hodge will not be included in the list!

Walshie & Mills I'll give you - Everyone else was shite & I include Tommy Wright in that. Tommy had 1 good season for us and that was the season after. He then went to Boro where his career dissapeared down the pan. Kevin Russell - Great player :icon_eek:

The likes of Spearing, Rob Johnson Paul Reid etc. Rubbish.

Haha..it`s true actually. I was trying to think of the defence but couldn`t...now i know why There were players like Tommy that could look class on some occasions but mainly not! Players like Alan Paris and Tony James won admirers from others clubs WHEN they did well. Others like Johnson and Tony bloody Spearing never did

I stood in pen 4, rather than my usual members area behind the Leicester bench, because I had a nice young lady from work with me.

I think the crowd was around 19,000, which was big for us in those days, even though the ground could hold about 30,000 at the time.

There were loads of rumours going around the ground about what was going on in the West Brom match, and in the days before mobile phones it was difficult to confirm exactly what was going on, even the people with radios didn't seem certain.

I kept off the pitch at the end, I just watched the pitch invasion from the terrace. I didn't feel like celebrating, I just felt relieved and drained.

I remember reading a piece about him (think it was Walshies book) about him being ruined by Pleat. Apparantly during the warm up the coaches used to fire general knowledge questions at them to sharpen their mind for the game. Paris always used to get the questions wrong and was made to look stupid by Pleat. It makes you wonder HOW thick you actually have to be though to be classed as thick by other footballers!!

I was there but I only have vague memories of that day. I was in the family enclosure and iirc that was the end where Tony James scored.I just remember the huge relief at the final whistle.

I was there, aged 5, sat in the Double Decker with my dad.
It wasn't the first match I ever went too but it is the first one I remember going too. Been hooked ever since. (well until now)

Nice to know I was with you for your last ever away game.

I wasn't there, tbh, it was before my Dad's interest was reawaken in City (he was too busy playing the game in the City League). There is no doubt speaking to a few people that there was a bit of lull in people following footie during the 80s and after the 1990 Italia World Cup, people have began to watch again. I could be wrong however.

I would of been 3 so I would have remembered feck all if I was there.

I was 6 and I vaguely remember being absolutely ecstatic. Stood on the front row of the Main Stand propped up against that big white wall.

I can barely cope with the idea of this Sunday. Only seen us relegated in the flesh once before - at Charlton last time out when it was fairly inevitable anyway. This time I'll be stood at Stoke with text updates from the Southampton game which doesn't feel quite the same somehow.

I was 15 and stood in the main stand lower tier leaning on the wall.....remember my mate shouting out "James is Evil" when he came over in front of us to take a long throw...and he gave him an "Evil" look. 5 mins later he scored! Think i puked on mad dog 20/20 that night, what a crazy kid i was!!

I was in Pen 4. Can't remember much about the game to be honest and hadn't been much that season due to being a poor student.

What was it then to get in about £3.50?

I was in pen 3 with my lad. I remember watching the fans half way down the east stand jumping up and down because somebody with a radio had heard that WBA had conceded a goal. The buzz around the ground was fantatstic.

The game has other memories for me as that was the last one I went to with my lad and he is no longer with us, so it has a lot more significance to me.

I had a month old baby and had lost all interest in football. Happy days !!

i was 14, went to the game with my dad, lived in somerset at the time. apart from the tony james goal my biggest memory is a pisshead standing up (in the double decker ) to shout something and falling straight forward pissed up!.

I was on my honeymoon in Zante and basically no updates. Spent the day just being nervous. All I remember was ringing home knowing City had won, but my Dad said that WestBrom result was not in. Then a second later it came through, cant remember much else. Still can t understand why I got married during the season.
