Does it matter which coach is in the frontroom and which coach is in the backroom as long as our players can park the bus in front of the door?

Probably.

If the recruitment goes well some of the posters on here could have some serious egg on their faces. I was not particularly impressed when we signed CR and that did not turn out too badly, Our success has been born out of finding hidden gems and players who have a massive point to prove. For all of you who are posting that we should be buying in well known European players and managers go and have a look at Stoke/Newcastle/Sunderland not too much success there.

If we look at Southampton they have an outstanding recruitment network and have appointed good managers I think we share the same poitn of view as they do.

There previous managers have been
Nigel Adkins England September 2010
Mauricio Pochettino Argentina January 2013
Ronald Koeman Netherlands June 2014
Claude Puel France June 2016

Ronald Koeman has had a patchy career and sets an interesting trend of starting the season well and running out of steam

Mauricio Pochettino was previously manager of Espanyol and made a good fist of in reality Southampton were taking a punt of which it turned out to be successful.

Claude Puel spent his entire playing career at Monaco and after holding down the job of physical trainer and reserve manager was given the Nod.

All three have been given the chance and have subsequently proved themselves as decent managers there is no reason why Shakey can not do the same.

And for every relatively successful nobody there are a lot more unsuccessful nobodies.

Managers are overrated anyway.

Agreed however there is a lot of journeyman managers on the merry go round as well, recruitment is key in most clubs unless you have the clout of Man Utd Chelsea etc.

Disagree that managers are overrated

It's nothing to do with recruitment, well it is but that's just a part of it. The stated aim for the club was to be a regular competitor in Europe, or at least challenge for a qualification spot each year. Now, all appointments, signings and tactics will be looked at in that light. At the very least we need to demonstrate we've learnt from last season and moved forward. Expectations have been raised by the club, this will be a very telling season.

Nobody wants Creg to fail, I suspect he will.

There will be no egg on my face if we do well, just a big smile.

I like the negativity along with the positivity.

If only to 'out' people (me included) when we get it spectacularly wrong...and boy, do we...

I agree with what you say however his buys will be key and they do not have to be 30 million + journey men you are right the pressure is on and if he buys well and more importantly gets players who fit into his ethos and structure he is halfway there to winning. The fact we have a reasonably difficult start will not help I do think he is capable of doing well.

Just checked wor Chrissy's age and at 47 I think he could still be our first choice left back. He's also called Christopher (George) Robin so will be useful with sorting out the Pooh we have in defence.

BBC said that they think Chris Powell will be coming in as well as first team coach

They are making it very difficult for anyone to argue against my incredibly deep negativity.

If they take CP on its effectively a coaching team worthy of Charlton ****ing Athletic.

Our regression picks up pace like a bucket falling down a wishing well, unfortunately for Bob, his 2p piece is being safeguarded by the Goonies for the next time we need to appoint Adams.

Adams is now youth team coach at Market Harborough

he's at the wrong ground, should have a Tigers shirt on, no doubt someone will give him one and tell him were Welford Road is.
