THIS CHEVANTON GUY SOUNDS GOOD!!

Lecce 2 - 1 Empoli
Chevanton pen 2, 43 (L), Rocchi 59 (E)
Stadio Del Mare

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Javier Ernesto Chevanton earns Lecce their second win of the season and saves Delio Rossi's job.

This was a desperate relegation dogfight between two of the favourites for the drop this season and Lecce boss Rossi was hanging by a thread.

Lecce had a lightning start when Max Tonetto thumped the woodwork within 18 seconds. The winger was very unlucky, as his low drive ricocheted off the near post, went all along the goalline and came off the other upright.

Mooments later Valeri Bojinov was hacked down by Stefano Lucchini and the referee pointed to the spot. Javier Ernesto Chevanton converted to break the deadlock after just 90 seconds.

The game was played under driving rain and the pitch at the Stadio Via del Mare slowly became a swamp.

Lecce thought they had doubled their lead with a Bojinov tap-in following Tonetto's parried effort, but it was correctly disallowed for an offside position.

Both sides had good scoring opportunities with a save on Bojinov's low drive and an Antonio Di Natale header.

The Puglia outfit finally made the result somewhat safe before the half-time break with a splendid Chevanton solo effort. The Uruguayan skipped past two defenders and slid an angled drive past the goalkeeper.

Empoli re-opened the match on the hour mark when Tommaso Rocchi sprung the offside trap and drilled an accurate strike past Marco Amelia as he rushed off his line.

This scared Lecce and they poured forward in search of safety, but once again luck was not on their side. Chevanton took advantage of a defensive error and hit the woodwork, then Pratali cleared a Bojinov follow-up off the line. Sebastiano Siviglia picked up in midfield and his long-range effort clipped the upright for the four time during this match.

Empoli's hopes of a fightback were hit when Maurizio Lanzaro, who only came on as a second half substitute, saw red for a last man foul on Chevanton.

Jesus christ, there is no way Leicester could sign Chevanton. He's been linked with European giants for stupid fees. Some people.

Chevanton is class, seen some of his goals and free kicks for Lecce on tv - absolutely superb. You have good taste in players Joe

Micky must have a few scouts out in South America because my mate who is out working in Bolivia says that Leicester City is popping up all over the papers about Castillo and is also on the back pages in Uruguay.

The player in question is Ernesto Javier Chevanton. He plays for Lecce at the moment. He looks a hot prospect. He is 24 and a striker of "great potential" apparantly.

It is rumoured that he has family in England and is looking for a move that would place him near them. Word has it that the family are based in non other than the leafy suburbs of Leicester.

Come on Micky, these South Americans are awesome. Get him quick before other clubs get a sniff.

this guy is also quality on champ manager sign him up micky!!!
