Looking for advice from someone who knows stuff about music recording.

I've got an electric piano but it has no midi out socket. It only has a 3.5mm headphone jack socket.

I want to use an app that listens to what I'm playing but most apps require a midi connection.

How can I convert headphones to midi?

No x-box involved by the way.

You can't do it easily. Midi is digital data, headphones are analogue. Midi is telling an instrument what to play, and how to play it, rather than the actual sounds.

There are programs that might do what you want, such as this one: http://www.digital-ear.com/digital-ear/index.asp

You might be better off buying a basic midi keyboard.

Could I run the headphones into a midi interface and then output from that as midi?
