What Are You Listening To Now?

I like that.

Talking of Pavement, have you ever listened to anything by a band called 'Preston School Of Industry' (great band name) - the band formed by Pavement guitarist Scott Kannberg? He also does 'Spiral Stairs'. Well worth a listen, IMO.
Meant to reply to this ages ago, we literally had the exact same exchange a year or two ago when I’d posted a Silver Jews track or something else by Berman in this thread.

And I have checked out Preston School of Industry and they have become a part of the algorithm that Spotify feeds to me!

I’ve heard this a few times on 6 Music, really like it.

Love it. I’d never heard of Mazzy Star until I heard ‘Look On Down From the Bridge’ in an episode of Rick & Morty of all places and it was so ****ing beautiful and sad I had to find out who made it. They made a couple of gorgeous albums.

Just spotted a link to this.

Top Of The Pops 1979.
Back when the band would mime the music and the vocals were live.
I notice that Charlie amended they lyrics in the first verse..... He must have been told to!

Yep.
You horrible , immoral punks can't talk about such awful things.

But us respectable wholesome family pop entertainers can do as much of it in real life as we like.

****s.

Tis Friday. I've found beer. I found my bass. Cue the music.

I love this (unknown) track. If you don't like it, it's only short.
I thought I'd post the live track as I love watching Christina play the guitar on this...

Where are they now.

I assumed this song was about what kind of Monster Munch is your favourite.

Her band after Slant 6 (can't remember what they were called) put an album out only a couple of years ago. It was OK as I remember. It was their 2nd...about 20 years after the 1st ! no idea what any of them did in between. Not a lot probably.

They were always badly served by that ****ing stupid Riot Grrrl thing. It was mostly an invention of west coast journalists & being from DC put them outside the loop. Shame really as they were a lot better than Bikini Kill (IMO anyway)

Sorry folks, I'm here and It's Friday.
Cheap bourbon and music.

I've never been to Canterbury. When I was early 20's, i borrowed a Caravan LP ( and a Camel LP - That was much better) and I did enjoy some of it.
Anyway, Caravan were part of the Canterbury scene in the early-mid 70's (as was Robert Wyatt - he had the first ever top 40 hit for Rough Trade Records, but that's another matter). The band's generally had the same members, moving from band to band. And going Jazz.

Here is a typical 'Canterbury' band, Hatfield And The North.

Strangely, I've been re-listening to a lot of the Canterbury Scene stuff this week. I liked most of the output. I remember seeing Daevid Allen's Gong at the DeMontfort Hall. He had been touring in France with Soft Machine (I think) and for some pre-Brexit reason was refused entry back into Britain for being Australian. So, he went to Paris and formed Gong.
This has always been one of my favourite singles from that era.

I was going to see Soft Machine at Manchester Band On The Wall some months ago but it didn't happen unfortunately.
I've been listening to Gong on long car journeys, when alone - no-one I know can deal with that kind of stuff!

Last night I travelled from Norway to Mallorca. On the flight I listened to Camel’s Mirage album for the first time in a very long time. Still think it’s brilliant.

The first 3 Camel albums are wonderful IMO. At the time, I don't think I would have been as keen but nowadays they sound so good.
