Riccy has not long come back from injury as well, so overstretching him wasn’t the best idea. he looked ****ed in the second half
He's the only player that deserves any credit from yesterday's game as he was the only one that looked like he gave a shit, the rest just ambled around.

I don't think the performance was down to tiredness, I think it was more down to arrogance after 2 wins and being top of the league again.

Its the same arrogance that got us relegated last season and I can't wait until the majority of this squad **** off.

Normally that is fine - it's worked extremely well all season

But last night the system was changed completely so that Ricardo moved up into a much more attacking position alongside Ndidi and KDH (who were bizarrely swapped over as well). Meant he couldn't get back to cover at RB, leaving the awful Faes totally exposed, and it left Winks on his own in the middle. Was a total disaster.

If you have a system that has taken you to the top of the league, with a game in hand - don't ****ing change it (regardless of what the idiots might say)

It's some achievement of self-delusion to make up stuff to double down on how it cannot possibly be the fault of ze system.

If things go wrong, it's because he needs to do more Enzo-ball is that right? You're a full blown cult member.

Once again, he didn't change ze system at all last night, save for about 10 minutes when he pushed Ricardo further forward. He changed back after that. It is not a change of system to switch two midfielders around in the same positions.

We didn't concede during his 'experiment' either so I'm not sure how you can use it to explain away the performance/defeat.

We conceded because Faes went flying out of position - as per ze system and as per he's done all season - and got caught. Winks was then left as last man on a booking so couldn't put a challenge in. He also picked up that booking whilst ze system was in 'normal' mode.

EM made four substitutions last night and the shape of the team remained the same throughout them all.

Maybe you are so utterly obsessed with your own nonsense being fact that you can't possibly hope to understand the simplest of things.

If you don't think swapping the midfielders over and having Ricardo do, essentially, a completely different job made any difference then your even more of a cretin than you usually present yourself.

Had we not done that, and stuck to what worked against Birmingham then it becomes a different game.

It's still down to Maresca and his ****ing stupid decisions mind, but not because of a system you inexplicably seem to want to use a mock German accent for.

I don't know if someone in this thread has mentioned the 'The Fosse Way' match review by James Knight.
If you haven't seen/read it, here's a link...

James knight doesn't sit on the fence, he tells it like certain Talkingballs members do.
Well, some of it was guff but this bit shows he does at least understand the basics of what went wrong, unlike some thickets.

'For one thing, Ndidi and Dewsbury-Hall are obviously a lot better on their stronger sides. The latter has excellent chemistry with Mavididi, while Ndidi’s great strength in the right-sided #8 role is his ability to make underlapping runs into the penalty area. The sight of him occasionally doing that on his left side and then forlornly swinging his foot at the ball like a drunken child on the driving range should have been a sign that this wasn’t a very good plan.

There is a simple way to fix this problem: tell them to swap'.

Pretty much

Not sure why 6 is highlighted but it’s one of the most relevant ones here that’s for sure.

Watching the video of the WBA penalty on another thread reminded me of a similarly appalling refereeing decision at the Den on Tuesday. Millwall cross intercepted by a Millwall head with no City player within a couple of yards and goes out of play The decision? A corner. Fortunately the ref realised his mistake (or perhaps the assistant woke up and advised him) and blew for an imaginary foul in the box when the corner kick was on its way over.
