i have suggested this before, it makes sense to me. MM is very clever with PR

Its the most likely possibilty. He would not pull out this late in the game, and there is no other reason for the delay.

Other than the outside possibility that maybe MM does in fact have a mother who is, as it turns out, critically ill.

It's just a mad theory, I know, but...
