Of course they want to be in the Premiership - and they'll get much more money out of us if we're there. But they don't want to make unrealistic promises because they know it will be thrown back at them at the end of the season if we don't go up.

I think one of two things are happening in that they are using the above to tread a fine line between no ambition and a little bit of ambition or they are using the above as a means of disguising a total lack of ambition.

The reality is that more than 10% of this league will get promoted and we (as a whole) must do everything we can to be part of that percentile.

They've underachieved for most of the time while he's been in charge, considering the size of the club.
Ellis wasn't on the Villa board between 1979 and 1982 - when they won the league and European cup.

Andrew Taylor, in answer to part of a question I asked, said he has checked with the club's solicitors and they have told him that this is an urban myth - he says there is nothing in the club's aericles which restricts the size of an individual's holding in the club.

So, either he doesn't know what he's talking about or the FT doesn't.

Sorry Steven - my remark must have seemed patronising and I apologise. It is now clear who you mean by 'protagonists'. At the time I wasn't clear whether you meant the main characters (in the studio) or the voices who were trying to get some decent answers out of him.
