He's inadvertantly blocked you?
Not being flippant! I accidently did the same to someone once. Get him to check your contact details on his phone - sometimes the blocking feature is slightly hiiden once activated.

Mt wife was on a call on the train this afternoon when they went through a tunnel, the phone stopped working. Everything was on the phone, but she couldn't make or receive calls and texts.
Being a real techno, I've taken the battery out waiting a few seconds and put in back in and everything is working fine!
You never know It might work!
