Its alright...when Milan gets here he can tell MON where to appropriately file his expected offer (if there is such an offer)

I have very extreme views of him, he did the club good whilst he was here but I fear he did more damage internally that has ever been told.

As I understand it from various sources (all in high level employment at the time of the MON/Gang of 4 troubles) that comment is balls.

And I have absolutely no reason to question the people who informed me of the situation at the time, during and since. I expect one day people will know what happened but when i'm not so sure.

What I know from the people I worked with there was if the "gang of four" hadn't been outed we would never have gone into administration further down the line. But... if they hadn't O'Neil would have walked and we'd have missed out on a few cracking years.

Between a Rock and a hard place.

To me that says that the board should have brought people in to fill their vacent roles. Then we would have had the best of both worlds?

Well we will never know what would have happened if the GO4 had got in, but admin may still have been a possibility with players on high wages, a puppet manager in place to replace MON but answer to BP, fans turning away in droves as the team is sold off and falters into relegation etc etc etc.

To justify hindsight and be able to know we were going to employ PT 2 years later is a strange way of saying the GO4 were a viable option at the time.

BTW the gang of 4 led by BP and Gilbert Kinch who 4 years later was the 'bankroller' of the other bid to take us out of admin, scuppered by the fact he had no money.

He had no money 4 years earlier and my understanding is that he was looking at ways of making money at the time of the GO4.

I'll leave it at that.

We replaced them all with people who got blinded by success and forgot to put business profit first.

For all his critisism (some of it deserved) B.P had us at the cutting edge for off the field marketing. I sat in on some meetings where BIG teams from around the country came to see what we were doing. Whether we would he stayed cutting edge with him still there who knows, but we certainly didn't progress after he left.

That said, I still hated his guts.

You believe what you want, but I could not really care less to be honest.

Thats dead true, but were they not there right up until 6 or 7 months before he went. No sooner had they gone and he ****ed off. We had already had the "cracking" years. The EGM at Donnington got rid of Pierpoint and Smith etc

Well thanks! :icon_wink

And by the same token why should I care about your beliefs on the matter, i might be completely wrong but I would imagine what I know is of more substance that what you know.

Thats nothing personal but as far as I know there are not any people more qualified to tell me what happened than those that have.

Off field marketing activities have been very poor since BP left in many ways, and the club has struggled in this area. Attempts to rekindled have made the club a joke.

Thats a big statement to make Dunc, but your right you could be wrong

You're probably correct, to be honest it's that long ago I can't really remember the timelines. Oh well, it's also that long ago I also no longer care ;)
