A bit harsh, YV.

What if he served his apprenticeship, gained his coaching badges, worked his way through the managerial "lower reaches".....then, would he be more acceptable?

yes but that would depend on his record i would say it about any of our ex players you cant expect someones first managerial job to be ours and expect them to do well like you say they have to start at the bottom and work their way up

shut up you!!!! :icon_lol: i would rather have someone with experience who has an idea what theyre doing

Pearce started at the bottom - he was in charge of the trees for a while.

He also spent a couple of years coaching at Man City before becoming manager.

That really is the bottom!

there are loads of players who have gone on to be great managers, dont see why walshie couldnt be the same, theres absolutely no evidence he wouldnt make it, granted theres a chance he wouldnt but its the same with all managers. Walshie over Taylor anyday
but there are plenty of great players who made shite managers ie tony adams

For Walshie to be ever considered he would need his coaching badges and then either start at the bottom by managing a lower league team or work his way through the coaching set up at Leicester, learning and developing as he goes but either way it would be at least 4 or 5 years before he was ready. Whilst I would love to see Walshie here in some capacity, you have to question how seriously he wants the job, if he was as desperate to manage Leicester as he says then surely he would have by now completed his coaching badges and be trying to work his up the coaching / management ladder.

IMO those comments were for the benefit of the fans, keep him in our minds and at a time when the current manager was going through a wobble, couple of bad results and all of a sudden chants of "Levein Out" and "We want Walsh" start around the Walkers, an attempt at clever propoganda IMO and TBH Walshie is my hero, but some of that interview seemed a little too staged and a bit of an ego trip, the guy is a legend at this club, but at present is nowhere near capable or qualified to manage this club.

:038: :038: spot on ;)

The other thing to bear in mind about Walshie is that he is a red mist merchant. He cannot control his temper. Can you imagine his response to a particularly poor Momo performance, or a Rab fumble, a heated debate with the opposing manager could only end one way. Bit to handy with his mitts. Struggles running a restaraunt from what I heard.

Great servant, great competitor, but needs to start with the basics, get some coaching qualifications, assist in a small club and learn the ettiquette as much as the skills.

I don't hate Peter Taylor, its more of an intense loathing with a bit of murderous intent thrown in.
