I was talking ot some footy fans at work the other day (mixed bag, Villa, Wimbledon and so on) and they asked me what the single most joyous moment was in my life...

...If my wife had asked me the same question, I would have to think quickly and lie.

I rather enjoyed Claridges wembley winner.

As a youngster I also got a little bit excited when we turned Cambridge over 5-0 in the play-offs.

Standing in the Kop at Filbert Street with a Liverpool supporting co-worker as we turned the scousers over, the season after promotion under Jock Wallace.

Most joyous “moment” was when we scored to make it 3-3 vs Swindon at Wembley. Short lived as it was, it was mental in the stands when Thompson scored.

Outside of that, Ulloa against Norwich in “that” season. I nearly passed out in the stands I reckon. What a rush!!

Or maybe when we got to see Filbert, Vicky and Cousin Dennis all together for the very first time

Yes I was at wembley that day. I had managed to get tickets and took my old man along. He had not been to a match for years and was thoroughly enjoying the whole experience. When that goal went in, right in front of us, The lady in the seat next to him planted such a smacker on him he was a bit taken aback but I am sure he didn't mind. The noise was almost deafening.

Walshys winner against the shaggers that took us up.

My last game before moving stateside. Quite the send off.

Good question - like many of the others I have a number of good moments, but mostly they're around when I realised we were going to win a league, whichever it might have been...
  • Stevie Howard bullet header against Leeds in minute 89
  • Ulloa against Norwich
Can't really remember the championship one, as it never really felt in doubt.
The 5-3 against United was good too, in a Sri Lankan bar full of Man u fans. Full of Leicester fans by the end!

Still remember Dyer's goal against Villa very fondly as well. Nothing better than ruining Sherwood's day is there?

If you're making me pick one, I'm going for the Stevie Howard one. The premier league win was magnificent... but the Howard one was the first real rush of absolute joy and certainty so it sticks hard in the mind.

Some feel good moments in the above :)
A couple I'd like to add from the early 80"s.
  1. the Shrewsbury own goal, that made it 2- 2 in the game of 3 goalies. Just had that feeling we could go on and win the game without Mark Wallington in goal.
  2. Ian Wilson winner at Craven Cottage, put us in the driving seat for 3rd place, and promotion

Leicester 5 - 2 Sunderland. 2000. Collymore hat trick.

I left that match genuinely feeling we were going to become one of the best teams in the country. Heskey and Collymore together were unstoppable.

I was about to say the same - plus I will always remember it as it was the last
game at Filbert Street that I went to with my old dad.

What better time for him to bow out? Off to heaven, thinking we were world-beaters

...years before we actually were!

Ian Marshall's goal in Madrid. I really thought we were going to do them.
