Road taken into account...feck me Frog Island was closed off for 18 months.....I know redevelopment is not flat pack. I find it slightly worrying there is no timescale on some of the stuff, almost covering their tracks for when the time comes 'whats happening'. I was not picking an argument on the plans Frog Island Marina, just asking when there is a claimed time/date for work to start.

The only redevlopment I can see in Leicester atm, is Halford Street which is done by the council. The Shires has been delegated to be built by McAlpine.

i find it very weird that that is the only redevelopment you can see.

In the centre of the city yes and considering I live near many of the planned developments.

Gallowtree Gate is finished and I can't see/remember any other's going through refurb atm apart from Halford Street. The Shires extension is not a priority of the council in terms of building.

There is building on plots but not what I would consider serious enough for regeneration or development.

Theatre?
Leicester Square?
Abbey Meadows?
The Cultural Quarter?
The Business Quarter? (behind the old Charles St Police Station)
Westbridge Wharf?

I don't know what you expect to see but it seems a bit unrealistic if the above doesn't count as regeneration.

They can't close the city centre, bulldozer large swathes of land and build on the land as it is a centre full of businesses and commerce.

If you don't think that the work is regeneration then neither is the work Birmingham did over 5-6 years and continue to do so.

The majority of the work is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2010 so unfortunately for you I guess you'll have to wait til then to judge.

FYI the architects in charge of a large portion of the developments (including Shires extension) are the same as Brum and therefore should know what they are doing and by their own admission not make mistakes that were made in Birmingham in terms of designs and architecture.

I don't profess to know a lot about what's going on, but just from spending a lot of time driving around Leicester, it is obvious that regeneration is a plenty and I look forward to it's completion

Thank You for that Dunc, I think I had a selective mind slip over The Cultural Quarters. Maybe I just need to hope my eyes a bit. Still, need a music venue.

Is there a link anyone could post that gives a complete gig listing for all or most venues in Leicester for the coming months?
