in the mercury, milan has stated that neil warnock wanted to come to leicester, but did not employ him because he was staggered how much leicester fans loathed him.

i for one wanted him here and i am pretty peed off with this news.

He has something similar to say about the reason he didn't go for John Gregory.

Whats the point of this thread, its a bit late now NP is here and he is the choosen one to take this club forward another useless Thread

So it's all the fans fault

That Warnock didnt come? Yes

That we went down? No

Why do people read things into everything MM says? Alls hes saying is he didnt employ Warnock or Gregory because he listened to what the fans wanted.

The guy is damned if he does and damned if he dosnt

The point might be that it demonstrates that the fans do have a bearing on the running of the club and in the hope that they might realise that. Revelling in this new-found status, they (the fans) might further realise that their interests as stakeholders might be better served by getting behind the team, its players and manager for an extended period rather than starting their usual mutterings at the first sign of difficulty.

On the other hand, the OP might have had some other motive. At the very least, it does confirm what some people have been saying for a long time.

I wouldn't trust most of the City fans I know to run a race, let alone run a bloody football club.

I suggest Milan forgets about us and worries about running the football club himself. Get that right, and we'll be happy by default.

Too true.

The Warnock case is a classic - proved what idiots many Leicester fans are. Not helped of course by the clueless, brainless Foxes Trust.

Sorry........ but I think that is a absolutely ludicrous statement to make.....its about protecting his own self interest ....not about what or whom the fans want or moan about, its whats good for his investment that counts

I'm not quite sure what you mean Western but my idea of "ludicrous" is the prejudice shown about Warnock and the hero worshipping of Holloway. Both instances where some Leicester fans have helped to create the current misery.

There were plenty of good candidates around last summer without needing Warnock. It's not the fans' fault that MM didn't employ any of them.

Who were they then?

As far as I recall they were all more or less 'dead beats' except for Warnock. One exception would be Paul Ince - who would have been a good call although I detected some undertones of prejudice there in some fans' reactions.

Of course, MM has to take responsibility - but others including the dreaded Foxes Trust must take some part of the blame.

My shortlist last summer was Ince, Grayson, Johnson and Worthington. I'm sure all of them would have done better jobs than any of the ones we ended up with.

Of course there was a lot of anti-Warnock sentiment about. Opinion here was about 2-1 against, and on other boards (notably the old Fox site) it was far more outspoken - plus the mockery message board, RL and heaven knows where else. So if he wanted to be Mr popular, maybe he did take account of all that

But, of course, don't forget Warnock's statement that he had a look and decided he wouldn't touch the job with a barge pole. Maybe on the same grounds? Or because he likes to be his own boss?

Who knows - but Jeff is right - there were other options available.

Warnock is and always has been a wanker, hated by most supporters outside of the team he is managing...

He probably would have done better for us than that pillock who we ended up with but either way it doesn't matter now does it?

hated or not, he had the best credentials for the job.

and thats what he should have got judged on.

same as gary megson, most people hated him because he had ginger hair.

not for his management ability or lack of.

The fickle fans should have been ignored. If Warnock was the best manager available at the time, then he should have been appointed regardless of what the fans wanted.
In 1992 David Speedie was probaly the biggest villain in Leicester. Within a year or two, and thanks to some great goals and gritty performances in the blue shirt ,he became something of an iconic figure.
Who is to say that todays villain couldnt be tomorrows legend:102:
