New ex-players (and managers) thread

On the BBC thing, in connection to the above news.....

"But on Tuesday Spurs forward Son Heung-min said he did not want to move to the country, and earlier this month Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami, turning down a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia."

He might be the nicest man in football but he has no principles.
Given his beliefs, he is likely following his principles and leaving our drug-taking, booze-swilling, porno-watching, girl-educating, gay-tolerant, gambling-addicted, immodest cloth-wearing, fuel-costly, pop music-listening, abortion-allowing, free-speaking, sex-mad, democratic Infidel cesspit for the promised land (and money) of Saudi.

Confirmed.

I think he's taking a massive risk.

1. He'll have nowhere to hide if he doesn't go in and continue to win in his first season. It's a two-team league. If he fails, where does he go next?

2. The Celtic fans loved Postecoglu so Brendan has some shoes to fill and no doubt there will be plenty still bitter about his exit. They'll be on his arse from the start.

I don't wish anyone badly, including Brendan. It fizzled out in the end but there were multiple reasons we got relegated, not just his arrogance and relative ineptitude. Most managers fail at some point, it's up to the board to take action and make the right decisions. It's part of football.

We won an FA Cup and had two top 6 finishes under him. If we end up staying in the Championship for a while, I'll be wishing we were back in 5th spot and at Wembley beating Chelsea, you can bet that much.

Still, I'm not wishing him well or anything.

His move back can only be seen as a failure no matter his spin on it.

He was sacked from us and we were subsequently relegated. He then went back to the pub league.

Any success there is always surrounded with a massive caveat.

Everything s relative though and I take your pints above. The two 5th place finishes should have been two top 4 finishes without ‘us’ bottling it, so at the time (and on the second occasion at least), it was unacceptable.

If we get relegated again this season we would perhaps look back at the Championship year(s) with envy, but we shouldn’t accept mediocrity based on previous failures.
