Ehh. I liked him, mostly. Bit crap towards the end when he was magically only ever fit for NI, but I think he was a big part of us being less shit than we otherwise could have been.
I did, but a lot of the fan base see him as symbolic of the players who didn’t step up when we needed them to and ultimately led to our relegation. He’s almost the poster boy for that group, given, as you point out, his ability to be fit for NI. Check the comments for an example of this, for instance:

One if his ex-managers spoke about his attitude to fitness (was it Pulis?). He said that he had to be forced to play a lot of the time because his default was that he couldn't play whatever minor ailment he had.

That approach was clear when he was with us loads of times. He never seemed to be fully fit. He always spent longer out than he should have done. He always came back very rusty and took several matches before he got into form again.

Except when playing for NI when he'd always be miraculously available and also play well for them.

This attitude also stood out in 22/23 when his general approach to being part of a relegation squad stank. He was made captain when Schmeichel left and that decision alone was horrific. Throughout 22/23 he made 22 appearances due to fitness and 8 of them were for NI. He sat on his arse watching us implode and, in the very rare occurances when he spoke (as captain), had an attitude to it all that made Madderzzz seem worried.

He was undoubtedly a very talented footballer but I cannot stand the twat.

Rarely has a footballer created such loathing in me.

Funny how unliked most of the FA cup winning side is by our fanbase now (me included).

Other than Vardy and Kasper, who of that team is well liked? Meanwhile, there are some that are considered genuine villains - Madders, Evans, Fofana, Youri?

I really like Youri. That goal will always live with me.

I don’t understand automatically hating a player as soon as he leaves, especially those who’ve ****ed off in the last few years. Why would anyone want to stay at a club run the way ours is under these ****wits? Career suicide.

Agree. That whole team has a place in my heart for giving us our first ever FA Cup.

I can understand the ill feeling towards Evans - he did not help or seem to care about our downfall and relegation at all. He was a pathetic excuse for a club captain.

The rest I don't really get though. Maddison is hated for being the 'face' of that team that got relegated I think. He was the most vocal, the most charismatic, and I think that's why he drew a lot of stick.

Youri just had a huge decline and needed to move on. Things took a long time for him at Villa and I think that shows it was more than just a lack of effort on his part. I still love Youri, personally.

Players move on, but I don't understand them all being villains after bringing us one of the highest moments in our club's history.

Evans made every other defender he played with look better. We wouldn't have got the money for Maguire or Fofana without him (or should have got for Soyuncu if we'd sold him when we should). A great organiser of the backline, the like of which we're crying out for.

There's also something about the whole group refusing to sign new deals having almost collectively decided that the club had gone as far as it could.

Although as has been said, who can blame them if they could see which way the wind was blowing with Rudkin in charge.

I think my views are fairly level headed, thus:

  1. Kasper - legend.
  2. Fofana - Arsehole for the way he conducted himself pre-move. Got what he deserved.
  3. Evans - Google the word '****,' image of JE appears.
  4. Soyuncu - Can't blame the guy, frozen out by BR, and left as soon as he could.
  5. Castagne - Meh.
  6. Tielemens - We should have tied his contract down well before it became a problem, semi - legend for that goal.
  7. N'didi - Very good player.
  8. Thomas - Meh.
  9. Perez - Not good enough for us, or should I say, not consistent enough.
  10. Nacho - See Perez.
  11. Vardy - The best player I have ever had the pleasure to see play for LCFC.
I feel that is fair?
