Just going on what I've seen first hand over the few months I've spent traveling around Thailand over the years, where they genuinely seem to love him. Compared to the might of Wiki, I guess that's anecdotal at best.

Hooray! I was wondering when ladyboys would be brought into it. After all, that's the only reason I went, because it's what the entire country of 67 million people, incredible natural beauty, fascinating culture and captivating wildlife is all about.

But to go back to the 'argument' - which isn't really an argument because I love you all, even you Maws - you could probably dig out a law about harming swans in the UK and being personally castrated by Prince Philip or something. My point was that I never got the impression in all the time I was there, either 'on holiday' or when I was living in a hospital while caring for my brother who was in a coma, that there was anything but genuine love for their king. Maybe it's because they fear repercussions, or maybe it's because they actually love the bloke. I don't know, but it was universal in every part of the country that I went to.

Thailand is a great place and Thai people are the nicest, kindest people I've ever met (no, not the ladyboys, although I'm sure they're nice as well). I highly recommend it, especially if you avoid the Benidorm-style tourist traps, which is where you'll find the 'sex tourism' which Thailand is unfortunately best known for.
