As Steven says, you wont go far wrong with Sony but as Leroy says you will pay slightly more but then quality costs.

Make sure you get 1080 24p in the price range you are looking at. Your Blurays will benefit from this no end.

Personally I see people overstate the size of screen suitable for viewing distances all the time. I'd suggest going and standing 12 feet from a 47" screen in Currys etc to see just how huge that really is!

is that a plasma or lcd? and have you been pleased with it?. The Panasonics seem to be popular! especially the G10 / G15 and V10
Plasma. HD is great on it and is noticeably different-though unfortunately we only have freesat so only have 2 HD channels. Picture also looks great for my 360 (though its only 1080i as its played through component and not hdmi)

Basically I'm looking at getting a new TV but since I started looking I'm now more confused than ever.:bang::bang:

I want a 42 46 or 47" screen, main use will be with Sky HD+ (sport & Films) Gaming on the PS3 & Blueray.

I just want to know if anybody has either recently bought a new TV and if so what, why and would you recommend it, or if there's anyone out there that knows their stuff and can advise / guide me in the right direction.

My current TV is LCD and we've been pleased with it but would consider plasma or LED if recommended.

Thanks in advance for any help given

Funnily enough i'm very close to getting this but in 50" either this or the 46" G15 both from Richer Sounds are available for £899 Don't really need the internet facility of the G15 (and not sure there's that much else different) so could well go for the G10 & bigger screen!!:038::038:Happy Days indeed (I hope!)

The internet facility is crap tbf and you wont use it.

Seriously though, dont just think biggest is best, you need to view the screen sizes from your viewing distance.

Plumped for the Panasonic 46" G15. After only an hour or too it looks fantastic and Richer Sounds were great. would recommend to anyone looking for a tv.

Steven this is absolute rubbish. Any Sony product is automatically overpriced due to the brand name. Equivalent products (and in many cases better products) can be found much cheaper with just a different brand name IMO.

3D t.v. being broadcast widely enough to justify buying a specialist tv is years away from now so advising someone to wait is absolutely ridiculous. If this is your best advice then Im going to have to ask when are leaving again?

?? what's the matter with me??

Well after an hour or three it's still great! going to put Fifa on the ps3 and see what that's like. Not working this morning other than writing training plans so if anyone fancies a game....

Given that many people still haven't even switched over to digital this will take years, years and years before there are enough people buying sets for tv companies to produce enough material to justify buying a set in the first place. I think it will be a bit chicken and egg. Will tv channels broadcast 3d without many many 3d sets sat in peoples living rooms? and if they wait for people to buy, why would you spend what's likely to be a fortune when there and then there's little to nothing worth watching.

Plus if I want to watch 3d I don't think you'll be able to replicate the cinema big screen on a normal sized tv unit. Even if everyone starts buying, and can fit, a 55" + tv in there front room, it still wouldn't be a patch on the big screen! (I wouldn't think so anyway!) :102:

I saw Panasonic's only 3D demo model in the world in action a few months ago. Its brilliant but won't ever catch on in a big way IMO.
