11 changes for this game?
But what do I care?
I've managed to get a ticket (in the sit-on-your-hands area of the ground).
And I'll be there.

Full strength team for me, with perhaps Ward and Barnes in.

Our next game is 6 days later, and I’d love a good cup run (shame the club doesn’t). We made so many changes away to Fleetwood last year and were so fortunate to not be embarrassingly dumped out.

I think we can be excused for making a lot of changes here, it's a good chance to give the likes of Soyuncu, Ward, Barnes, Okazaki, Silva, Iheanacho, even Ghezzal some playing time and they should surely be good enough to beat Newport?

I can only imagine the atmosphere from our side will be excellent for this. Have we played them before?

Not this Newport County - but we played the old Newport County in the 1st round and replay of the cup in 1920, and twice in the second division just after WW2.

Newport had a single season in the old Division 2 when the league started up again after WWII, having been promoted 7 years previously. We did the double over them and they were relegated, bottom by some distance.

You have a good memory despite your age ;)

What are the stats, we need the stats!
If we lost the last game, that'll mean we haven't beat a Newport team for nearly 100 years.
Jeez, they'll be calling for the manager's head!

They're a mid-table division 4 team - we should safely be able to blood a couple of youngsters and give game time to those who need it, leaving the entire first eleven fresh as daisies. If we can't, as a club we don't deserve to be in the next round...

Ward

Johnson Soyuncu Knight Fuchs

Silva Chaudhury Iborra

Ghezzal Iheanacho Barnes

You wouldn’t class Choudhury as part of the first eleven?

I should add to my first post that if we are to make changes, I’d rather they were for youth team players who have a potential future with us, rather than out of favour players who have zero future with us - i.e. Benalouane, Silva, Diabate etc.

No doubt someone will mention “shop window”, but no one is going to sign a player based on one performance against Newport County.

I'd say that of the three candidates for that berth he's the one who would learn the most from the game, any of him, Ndidi or Mendy /should/ be able to do that job and be fine for the next week though

Assuming we do recall Barnes

Ward

Ricardo Soyuncu Maguire Fuchs

Iborra Hamza Maddison

Gray Vardy Barnes
