RK reckons there'll be no more spending despite releasing JH and PG. So what if Sylla and the Duffer from Dordrecht go too? Will that release any cash later in the season when the transfer window opens again?

There is a big difference between spending and acquiring

LCFC still spends money, even if it's on wages of free signings.
It could be clever talk. If we pay anybody else the same as we paid Gerrbrand and Hamill, we not spending any more money

Except that Hammill, and possiblyGerrbrand, will have gone with some measure of compensation.

If you read the full story which gave rise to this thread, you will see that RK feels that we have decent cover and that the loss of the reserve fixtures would itself have meant that "one or two have to go".

He also says that the players departure "reduced the wage bill but I think that has already been accounted for". Which either means that the wage-bill was over-budget or the saving on wages has been taken up by the compensation paid - or more likely a degree of both.

More worringly we have no more reserve side! How are players going to prove fitness and form and push for a first team place?

There will be one, it's just that they will only play friendlies and not compete in a league.

In behind closed-doors matches which are to be arranged on an ad hoc basis.

Bollocks innit? Even the home fans will be calling "Whoooo?" when we give debuts to players who have come through the ranks!

Not surprised it hasn't been mentioned before!

How are our young players going to develop unless they go out on loan? Which isn't much use if you need them in the squad! We must be more skint than I thought!

I get the idea that they will only happen on an occasional basis and in response to a particular perceived need.

I wonder if they fancy a knock around against Nork City or Shocking FC. That would give them a good stearn test :icon_lol:

I think, to name but two, that Cov and Derby are in the same boat as us.

We could join together to get shocking norks.

We went over budget to bring the 4 players in, so these departures are bringing us back closer to budget

I think they went over budget because they expected to unload MDV,Hamill & Sylla. That would have saved a bit. Unfortunately only one of them has gone and we had to settle his contract.

Fecking piss poor stewardship of the club if you ask me, what is the point of introducing a budget then allow the manager to exceed that budget by signing 2 defenders that at the time we probably didnt need. Says to me that we still havent learnt from the mistakes of the past, we then proceed to start terminating contracts of players in some sort of desperate attempt to claw the situation back.

I can still see one or two players being sold before the closure of the transfer window, and I certainly wouldnt be surprised to see a repeat of the Connolly transfer last season where we offload a player at the last minute and frantically attempt to replace them on the final day.

The current statements coming out of the club and the recent action undertaken is now starting to cause more than a little concern as to our true financial position.

I must have missed something here - that's terrible news!! Isn't that what Keegan did at Newcastle? Has there been a thread about it?
