No Overseas Player in County Championship

Having questioned whether we could afford an overseas player (not T20) in my Martin Van Jaarsveld post, it appears from reading an article of the club's website that the answer is no.

Big shame as we struggle to be competitive with an overseas let alone without one!

Wonder if we can afford a 2nd overseas player for the T20 campaign?

I think Van Jaarsveld is an extremely valuable signing - we've lacked a senior batsman since the departure of HD. To be honest I see Van Jaarsveld as the equivalent of a player in the formal overseas category.

McDonald is a very good player and played a big role as a batting all rounder in the T20 but I was never convinced we got full value for money in the Championship....various absences, late starts to the season, injuries etc etc.

Well at least we've got the Windies and Aussies in tour matches next Summer
