Noel Fielding

I'm going to put this out there. I don't find him or his comedy at all funny. What is the attraction? I have seen the trailer for his new "comedy" show several times and I just cannot see where the laughs are supposed to be? A mashed potato revolver? What?

Am I missing something? If so, please help. It's even worse than Miranda or Bo! Selecta.

Now lets not be silly...nothing is worse than Miranda!!! The programe isnt funny and she isnt funny (As proved on that big fat quiz. I have never seen somebody try to be funny and fail so badly).

Not sure about the Noel Fielding's new programme, but Mighty Boosh was very good. Although you do have to watch a few to get into the humour.

I always thought Julian Barratt was the funnier out of the two in The Mighty Boosh, I imagine a whole show based around Noel Fielding could be a bit grating. Still, I enjoyed The Mighty Boosh (The first and the second series anyway, the third was pretty terrible).

The thing is, with most comedy I can point to where the jokes are supposed to be, even if they are crap (like Miranda). But if I had to put a canned laughter track on any of his stuff I wouldn't have a clue where the jokes are, nothing even touches on the comedy spectrum, unless it's supposed to be funny simply because it makes no sense?

Yes, nobody has ever done absurd surreal comedy ever in the history of entertainment. Ever. It's completely and utterly original and nobody has ever done anything like it. Ever.

A truly awful example of British comedy and the gutter that it has been laying in for the last few years.

Mighty Boosh was a fad. It was funny at the time but if you try to watch it now it grates your eyeballs and squeezes lemon juice on them - much like Bo Solecta. Since then this pompus dick has lived off of its sucess. Grow up Noel.

If it was influenced then that implies he's added something and moved the genre forward - but he hasn't, he's simply repeated various absurd scenarios and not injected anything of any note whatsoever.

Repeating things is something a moron can do, it's not creative.

I agree, Matt.

Never got the appeal and don't understand where the humour even is. The whole thing just seems to be based around just thinking up the most surreal thing he can rather than actually be funny.

And I have no idea what how original or influential something is has to do with how funny it is.

Not my cup of tea, but I could say that about a lot of so called brilliant comedy acts. There are plenty of other channels on TV.
