Just a general non-league thread for those who follow football at this level.

I obviously support Friar Lane & Epworth. On Saturday FLAE played away to Cradley Town who haven't won a game all year. Laneworth were quite shocking throughout the game and Cradley were up 2-0 with 20 minutes left. FLAE got two quick goals late in the game to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Cradley is the worst supporter club in the Midland Football Alliance. There were only 35 people at the game, with about 15 of those supporting Laneworth.

This weekend FLAE host Carlton Town in the first round of the FA Vase. The winner of the game (or replay) gets £700. :icon_bigg

Have to say that Saturday's game was a breath of fresh air and reminded me why I love football so much

We may have lost 6-0, but I went away from the ground without feeling angry and in complete despair - which made a very nice change indeed

Will definitely be going again

When did FLOB become FLAE - presumably it merged with Epworth at some point. My father & 2 uncles were involved with Epworth in the 1930s, & I thought it had folded a long time since

A couple of years ago, the two clubs wanted to step up a gear and a great time last year won the Leics Senior League applied to Midland Alliance for promotion and received it. The Midland Alliance now has promotion if the ground is up to scratch to the Southern League I think.

I often go a non-league game to Burton Alb, Hinckley, Nuneaton, Rushden etc.

Yes, Cradley Heath. Not the nicest place to look at, but I did like it better then Tipton. Hopefully no one is from Tipton on this forum.... if so I do apologize. :icon_wink

The Vase game on Saturday game should cost £4.

I try to get to as many Leicester City games as possible, but I just can't afford to go to many. Last year I made it to seven games I think... none this year so far. :icon_sad:

Hazzman, you are correct. Promotion from the MFA at this point goes to either the Southern league of the Northern League (Unibond).

Old Git - Epworth were promoted to Senior League football in 2000 (I think) and dominated the 1st division of the Leicestershire Senior League. The problem with the club was finding an appropriate ground. FLOB were struggling in the early 2000's and a merger was the best thing for both clubs. Most of the players on FLAE currently started playing with each other at the youth level with Epworth.
