It's fortunate that the ref didn't consider Morrison's hand-ball in the same vein. He could easily have done so and the we really could have seen a cricket score.

Considering Morrison's performance the rest of the night, maybe not so fortunate

You're running away with your negativity here. Nugent had his back to goal and any shot at goal would have been blocked by the surrounding players. Never a goalscoring opportunity, if it was considered that....

Back to goal? Have you actually seen the video?

Surrounding players? There was nobody other than the keeper in a position to block any shot which Nugent might have been able to get off at the time of the foul or immediately afterwards. There was a denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity - and that is all that is needed under the FA rules.

Any degree of negativity on my part is wholly reasonable in the circumstances.

Vrey ture. I hadn't thought of it from that point of view.

minimum of a draw needed, id revert to Weale and a 442 formation, its time to stand tall and be conunted, im still slightly optomistic im going for a 1-2 win Waggy King

For me he wins the ball off his knee before he stupidly/clumsily pushes Nugent. By which time the ball is behind Nugent and Berner is in front. I don't necessarily disagree with the foul, but Nugent would need to have elasticated limbs to be able to score IMO.

No. I daren't watch the video. I completely disagree with the decision and it was compounded by the fact the ref was at least thirty yards away from the incident. Nugent would have bagged the goal of the season from where he was.

did anyone else think that bruno was really fast when he went up the left wing? Bloody lightening pace!

Just me then.

My comment on the red card, it was a red card but it was unlucky. The two players basically got caught together and tangled when the ball pitched up at an odd angle.

It was unlucky, I certainly don't blame Vitor for it - clumsy would be harsh, desperately unlucky would be fair.

You need to watch the video. Vitor didn't ever win control of the ball. By the time he wrapped his arms round Nugent, the ball was in front of the attacker and Berner was still well adrift.

It is more likely that you daren't watch the video because you fear that you might find that the ref was right. I don't have a problem with the ref being 30 yards away from an incident when he gets it right. On this occasion he did - and possibly with the help of his assistant.

Goals are scored all the time from the area of the D; why would this one have been different? Not that it matters, because the ref does not have to be of the opinion that a goal would have been scored.

I will do later on. But by 'win the ball' I meant it bounces off his knee. I appreciate and fully accept the defender didn't have control of the ball, but i do think that his legal actions prior to the push meant that Nugent couldn't have got into a goal-scoring opportunity.

Just watched....Nugent is never in control of the ball. In fact, he even dived at the end for good measure. I am not going to go around in circles it was a poor decision IMO and many of Pompey fans have commented on the luck of the red card.
