I'm off on holiday on Friday to the Costa Brava for a week with a few mates, and whilst we are there, we are thinking of making the short journey over to Barcelona for the day.

I've checked the fixtures and whilst we are away, Barcelona are playing in The Champions League at home against Lyon on the 19th so we are going to visit Barcelona then and hopefully go and watch the match in the evening.

I was just wondering if anyone on here had been before and could give me some advice on visiting the stadium. Would it be better for us to purchase the tickets in advanced (probably on-line) or are they available to buy on the day or even the turnstile?

Also what is it like around the ground on match days, like are there any areas that are best to be avoided?

And what it the transport like after the game has finished? Does the underground still run and are there trains or busses to nearby towns running late at night?

Well any advice on going to the stadium would be appreciated, such as where to sit etc. Cheers. :023:

tbh with you mate i don't think your going to have much choice in where you sit as the majority of tickets will be taken up by members/season ticket holders

the best advice i can give you is to try and sort out tickets as soon as you can!

Non-members can't buy tickets on line. You need to ring +34 93 496 36 00 Tickets go on sale to non-members 15 days before the game and are on sale now.

The English version of the RENFE (Spanish Railways) site is at http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html but please note that some of the trains that run out of Barcelona are run by a Catalonian railway company, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC). The English version of their timetable etc can be found at http://www.fgc.net/accesible/eng/viatjar/xarxa.htm

Make sure you you don't go with any of the resort run day trips. I was in Costa Brava (Tossa de mar) last May, and the tour operator trip to Barcelona involved a 5 hour coach journey. I have no fecking idea what route they took, because it should only take just over an hour. I enquired with a few others and they all involved lengthy coach journey's.

Funny really, we plumped for a coach trip with the hotel because we knew it would be hard to get to see everything we wanted in a day.

Superb tour guide and got everything done - took a while to get out of Barca but I understand that was because the kids has finished for the Summer.

I wouldn't say there is an area to avoid around Nou Camp - the main road next to the La Caixa building is very open and public. Although in the direct surroundings of the Nou Camp, it's a bit concrete - loads and loads of Arena's, training pitches and grounds.

On the stadium - so I was told that on public sale only 3rd tier tickets are available but that maybe myth. It will be difficult to get a ticket for this but you are helped by the fact that this game won't be covered by membership - meaning more tickets are on general sale if the demand isn't that high. But give it a shot, you have a decent chance.

http://www.soccer-spain.com/ssdocs/ticketsales.html - Ticket info

And 442 have recently issued their magazine for this month with a La Liga special in addition which gives some if slight info.

I'd advise booking a hotel room or two in Barca for the night. There is no other place like it.

Thanks for all the responses so far!! :023: :023:

TBH Hazz, we were thinking of staying in a hostel for the night anyway so we might do that.

The only problem is we are in a bit of a catch 22 situation. We want to go, but don't know if we will be able to afford it so were kind of hoping that tickets will be available on the day. Does anyone know if this is possible or how long you can leave it before buying tickets?

I dont know about Spain, but have you tried Barcas web site, I would have thought you could buy from there.
In Italy I have to buy from a web agent as all ticket sales go through this procedure, where you have to register a credit card and details. This is to stop the trouble at matches.

But try here

Barcelona tickets

dont seem very cheap though

Haven't got a clue - I'll ask tonight on another website what I use which is useful for this kind of stuff.

Yes BG the info was greatly appreciated, especially the link to the 'official site'! ;) :icon_lol:

Thanks for the input though but I would really like to know if tickets can be purchased on the day as we are not sure if we will be able to afford to watch the match, go on the Friday, cannot guarantee that money will still be readily available 5 days after!!

Email or call the club, or try and find a supporters forum, there must be one in the UK or an english speaking one. Post on there and they should be able to give you the info.

Right then, I have posted the info. Shall wait and see - it's not uncommon for Barca to sell tickets on la day.
