The reason that it would be el day is that day is masculine and nothing at all to do with it being in Spain rather than France. Even in France it would not be la day, but le day. And conversely, if day was feminine it would be la day even in Spain.

And if the tickets were on sale in france all day on the day of the match it would be toute la journée so it could be feminine after all. I accept this is highly unlikely for a spanish match though

Be aware though that this is a ticket agent and not the club's ticket office - that's why the prices are so expensive.

I am sure that Barcelona will not sell out in the early rounds of the competition. Cetainly when City played against Atletico Madird in 1997, many City fans stayed over and were able to obtain tickets for the Champions League tie between Real Madrid and Rosenborg the following day - these tickets were bought on the day.

Why don't you ring the number I gave above and actually ask the Barcelona ticket office the question. I am sure they will have English-speakers there. Just say "No hablo espanyol. Ingles, por favor" - the h in hablo is silent.
