Now that deserves a WTF!

Agreed - a pathetic tweet

Dullard parade of countries that you had no idea existed, and couldn't point to on a map of the world if someone gave you a million pounds

What's with the "you".
May I suggest that you buy yourself an atlas Homer.

The parade bit is a bit of a drag but I don't know what else they could do to make it more interesting. Other than that I'm with you on this one.

Agreed. I thought the show before the parade was absolutely superb.

I am fascinated by logistics. How did Aneurin Bevan (a personal hero) create the NHS in less than two years. How did General Eisenhower (another hero) organise the greatest landing in History. How did NASA in 1961 work out how to get a man on the moon in eight years.

Obviously the ceremony is trivial compared with these but the logistics are still incredible. Nobody is going to like everything in it - Homer did not like Beckham, I did not like some of the music. However, that is not the logistics. Putting together such a complex event and putting it on live is remarkably difficult - someone deserves a great deal of credit.

Now back to that bloody parade.

The olympics, or the opening ceremony?

The opening ceremony and the whole notion of an Olympic flame, all created for the 1936 Olympics by the Ãœber-race global overlord masters

Did he steal the idea from the 1932 LA opening ceremony?

According to this the first torch was in 1928?

And the first opening ceremony was in London in 1908, apparently.
